Highly recommend a visit to Images Boreales Galerie d'Art Inuit in Vieux Montreal. I had found this years ago while walking about Old Montreal. On this recent visit, Thursday May 2, 2024, we were on an MTL Detour of history, architecture, & culture in this area and there it was again. How fortuitous!
A unique gallery of First People's art, sculpture, fabric, etc.
"In Canada, the term Indigenous peoples (or Aboriginal peoples) refers to First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. These are the original inhabitants of the land that is now Canada."
These are commissioned works of the Inuit people of Northern Canada (Nunavut). These objects are carved from bone, ivory, & stone. The gallery also offers First Nations artists, Dene, Haida, Coast Salish, Ojibway and others.
Most people will not be able to visit these remote indigenous homelands, so here is a place where you can view & purchase these unique artworks.
Open every day 10am-6pm.
Thank you to the helpful & informative staffer who answered all our questions on our visit.

This is a huge gallery that's well worth your time visiting. Some very creative and unusual pieces....small shelf-type pieces to large stand-alone ones.
Great on-site service and they really know their artists.
We bought a lovely swan carving.

Was a bit intimidated by the gigantic pieces displayed and the price tags. But after a bit of meandering in this store packed to the brim with art, we found a piece we really loved that was within our budget. It was a bonus that it turned to be by a pretty popular artist too.
I thought the pricing was very fair. I do wish they'd mentioned that shipping cost would be much less than paying tax!
Regardless, am very happy with our purchase.
With the sheer selection, I am certain there is something for everyone here. Check their store downstairs too for smaller pieces and scrumptious ponchos and hats.

I make it a point to visit this gallery every time I visit Montreal. They have an exceptional range of inuit sculptures and also represent several First Nation artists. I bought a piece on my last visit and the service I received was particularly good. The largish sculpture was shipped through Fedex efficiently and without any hassle. It was received intact.

Rue St Paul is a must street to visit in Old Montreal but be sure to drop in at this gem of a store. Very expensive but worth a look.

A gallery where you can get in touch with Inuita Art. You can admire many pieces of art. An attraction is sculpture made in whale bone. You can also find a corner with American art. There is also a stand where different art objects can be purchased. If you arrive in the area it is worthwhile to enter

The gallery displays a large range of Inuit art, mostly sculptures. The gallery attendant was very knowledgeable, sharing the stories and culture behind the pieces. She was happy to do this and to show us any piece regardless of if we were buying or not.
The artwork is truly beautiful ranging from small palm size pieces through to huge sculptures and everything in between. Well worth visiting just to see the scale, beauty and uniqueness of the pieces.

Amazing display of native Canadian artists. They truly have some unique pieces. A very large art gallery that also has some unusual jewelry.
