Neighbourhood: Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie has one of Canada's most prominent Italian communities, with Little Italy concentrated along the convivial bends of Saint-Lawrence Boulevard. Known for its fantastic bars and authentic Italian fare, the domain includes the Jean-Talon Market, the largest public market in North America. Open year-round, sunny months see fruit and vegetable stalls set up outside the main chalet, while blustery weather draws crowds indoors to meat and cheese sellers, spices and truffles stalls, and for regional delicacies such as rare Charlevoix lamb. While the market dictates what's fresh for local restaurateurs, visitors can please more than their palates, taking in the Renaissance architecture and frescos of Madonna della Difesa, the picturesque Rue Saint-Rominique with its cheerful homes and splendid gardens, or the ornamented thoroughfare of Plaza Saint-Hubert.

Nice collection of mounted specimens. Super butterfly greenhouse. Added bonus - a very busy leaf-cutter ant colony (one of the best I've seen anywhere). No food on-site, but a well-equipped room for families to hang out in for a pack lunch.

Mostly for kids, but even my wife and I found some of the stuff interesting and their butterfly house is large and has many other interesting insects.

Hard to get to from the biodome (may need to climb across sizeable concrete barriers) but very close to the botanic garden that is a beautiful. In fact you can activate your museum pass here for the garden (that is cheaper than their passport or individual tickets)

Interesting place. Amazing butterfly collection. LOTS of kids around but worth a visit if you are at the Botanical Gardens or Biodome. It's a short walk between these three.

A unique expérience. Well designed attraction. The butterfly exhibit is definitely the highlight. Lots of interactive activities for kids. Get the passport to minimize costs for all these museums.

Very informative and engaging, small museum. Make sure to reserve tickets before visiting the site. Next door to Bontanical garden and easy accessible from Olympic grounds

If you like bugs/insects you might like this place. I think we were there for about an hour. The butterfly habitat was cool though.

This was so interesting and beautiful! All of it is educational and should not be rushed, it would be hard to linger for much more than one hour total. But the ending part with the gorgeous gardens, butterflies and incredible ant exhibit should not be missed.

This place was soooo cool. So may bugs of all shapes and SIZES. My 4yo girl really loved all the crazy bugs and insects this place had. It really was fun to visit.

Connected to the Botanical Gardens, this museum of insects is one of the best things to visit in Montreal. The instruction on the insects is comprehensive but by far the most interesting part is the atta ant colony. A little bit off the beaten track, but for anyone thinking of venturing to the East to see the Olympic Park, they might better spend their time here.
