Overview
Cruise the St. Lawrence River and see Montreal from the water on a sightseeing boat from the Old Port. Montreal can be clogged with traffic during busy hours, but trading ground transport for a river cruise avoids those crowded streets and sidewalks. You’ll have great views of the Montreal waterfront, spotting the Jacques Cartier Bridge, Montreal Olympic Stadium, Habitat 67, and other sites along the way.

This was not really a “sightseeing” cruise as advertised. It was more of an excursion on a boat. There was no commentary on what we were seeing on shore or history about the river. The boat was lovely, but it’s more of a go out and toodle up and down the river a bit and have overpriced cocktails and snacks for 90 min. There is a “picnic” option, which is just dining on the boat (I didn’t see the food because we were in the non “picnic” area). It was nice with my older teens because we could just sit and chat, but maybe not the best option with smaller children who can’t just sit at a table and watch the scenery go by.

The boat itself was fun and it was nice to get out on the water on a lovely day... but not much to see on the cruise. We saw an amusement park and lots of industrial sites. Not worth the money for the 10 minutes looking at the Montreal skyline on the way out and on the way in to the dock.

Getting on this boat tour was just the perfect thing to do on a bright sunny day after several days of rain since our arrival in Montreal. It’s also a nice different way to see the city without driving or walking. For an hour or so we relaxed under the warm sun in a clean quiet environment while cruising along the St Lawrence River. A close up view of the spectacular Habitat 67 was the highlight and well worth the $23 fare (Senior $20). The boat provides cocktails and refreshment service, and announcements of key attractions in French and English.

My husband and I did the “sunset cruise”. It is two and a half hours long, which in our opinion, was about an hour too long. The riverfront of Montreal is largely industrial and the further out you go, the less scenic it is. We also were disappointed to realize that the sun had set an hour prior to the departure of the boat. The music and light show only came on for the last ten minutes of the boat ride. It would be much nicer if it played for a minute or so interspersed through the ride to break it up. It was also a really funny contrast with the jazz music that was playing the rest of the ride.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are really sorry to hear that the sunset cruise was not to your liking. At this time of the year, it is true that the sun sets earlier than the departure time. We apologize for the impact this had on your experience. We take your comments and suggestions seriously.
