A major Canadian institution dedicated exclusively to contemporary art, the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (MAC) is located in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles and at the site of Place des Arts. It lies in the centre of a unique...more
Last month I visited the exbition of Rafael Lozano Hemmer. It was very interesting,
I Liked it so much.
The museum itself has a great indoor architecture but I couldnt see other pieces of art.
Some rooms were closed.
Came here to see Rafael Lozano-Hemmer's exhibit, and was very excited by the idea of interactive art pieces.
We were not disappointed! We had a lot of fun interacting with the art in a lot of unusual ways, and it was all presented very well!...More
I visited the MAC yesterday as the first Sunday of every month is free at several major Montreal museums... it's supposed to be free for Quebec residents only, but they weren't asking anyone about proof of residence.
I went in with no idea about who...More
Save your money. There are plenty of great things to see in Montreal, this isn’t one of them. There is little art value in this museum. It appears to be someone’s warped sense of art that many won’t appreciate.
This museum is one of my highlights of a past visit a decade or so ago and I was very pleased to bring my family to. Interesting for all ages and at times thought provoking. A highlight of this trip as well.
I recently enjoyed a visit to this museum. Two of the current temporary exhibits were of great interest to me. The first one featured Rafael Lozano-Hemmer- Unstable Presence. The exhibit features a number of large scale pieces which invites the audience to actively participate with...More
I was lucky to visit the museum while it was exhibiting the work of artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer. His installations were some of the most creative that I have ever seen. I was not able to explore all of the museum's other rooms, unfortunately. I look...More
I'm shy. All these years that I went to Montreal and I never noticed the MAC. The location is great. We found some parking spots around. We were less than 5 min walk on a Sunday.
Some museums have the hard mission of finding the...More
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theatres, and
exhibition centres are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
