Awful experience. I went on Sat night and was completely sober. After paying cover for my niece and I we were on the dance floor and one of bouncers came up behind me and grabbed me by the scruff of my coat and literally dragged me across the dance floor back to the top of the stairs and was screaming... we wanted to go clubbing in Canada and decided to do it in Montréal, and where better than in a club with plenty of university students! well it was full of very young people, like 18-20, and their corresponding fooling around and not behaving properly... but well! cocktails not expensive, the cover wasn't very expensive (I think 6$?), there was... As five 20 year old girls, this was not an enjoyable place for us to dance. We were treated as meat by gross boys who wouldn't leave us alone, even when we asked. We had to dance like lunatics to get them to step away. It is grungy and not worth the $6 cover. There are many other bars along... More

I always have fun here - if you can stand the pretentious rich McGill students and the pretentious loads of people from France haha (I say that with a mix of joking and truth - since Montreal is chock full of both of those groups). Tuesday nights is student night - $7 pitchers of beer (about 2 pints) and the... More

This place is perfect for a good night without spending a lot. Alcohol is cheap and there are many specials available (5 shooters for 10$, 5$ for a large beer, etc) depending on the night, and some days the cover is free for students. Venue is large, the music covers many styles (mostly top40) with many theme nights (retro tuesdays,... More

I went to this club on a Saturday night and the dance floor was jam packed by 11:00. Entrance is free before 11 as well. The music is truly great to shake your booty to! The crowd is generally in their 20s-30s, and the dress code is very casual; jeans, nice shirt, flats. They have good deals on drinks (2... More

I went to this bar on a Thursday night with some friends and had an awesome time! There was no cover for ladies which was a plus and there were plenty of people inside. The drinks were very cheap and they had plenty of deals if you buy multiple drinks. The music was good and there is a huge dance... More

Just went here for a concert - November 2005. We drove over 6 hours to see Andrew Bird and were disappointed because there was limited seated - 4 tables in the back and the floor was level and therefore you were unable to see anything. Even about three rows back, your view was quite obstructed. We finally gave up and... More

My friend and I moved to Montreal for 8 months because we heard that it was Canada's best party city and we heard right. Cafe Campus was by far the best place to go, the beer is cheap the people arent stuck up, and the women. CafCam as we've grown to know boasts the best looking McGill girls of anywhere,... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
