Used to hang around this live Quebec music bar in Old Montreal in the early 80s. Went back for a nostalgic visit to this bar of my youth and not much has changed. We still drink beer and sing & dance along with the bands ! The crowd is just as enthusiastic as it was 40 years ago even though I have lost a step or two. Vive le Quebec ! La joie de vivre existe encore dans ce bar classic du Vieux Montréal. Salut !

While walking up and down rue St. Paul, we decided to stop into this bar. There is a cover charge to get in, but they have live music. At first, there weren't very many people inside. Quickly, it filled up. The band was really great, and had everyone singing along to their songs (at least, those who spoke French!). This place has great atmosphere later in the evening with the live music, long bar and lots of people.

Locals hosted an evening out at this place and it was quite fun. Reminded me of a college bar environment with the stage and and everyone partying hard! It's pretty cool.

This bar is popular with local people for the great vibe it has every weekend. Every Friday and Saturday night, 2 groups are relaying each other on the stage to play. Usually, songs are 50% french and 50% english so it's a great mix of Quebec's culture and popular hits. A great way to spend a night with friends.

We stopped by this club on a Saturday night in Mid-April, arriving as the doors were opening at 8:30 pm. It's a large room on two levels, with a large stage at the front, four tops and family style tables on the main floor and a balcony on the second running around the whole space with more tables. Free popcorn once you order a drink from a server. We don't speak French, but we really enjoyed the music. First act was a singer-songwriter on guitar with a varying level of electronic accompanying tracks. Good energy, good performance, it build momentum throughout the set. He was followed by a band, Raffi I think, which brought the by-now totally full house to its feet throughout their set. Great fun, even if we couldn't understand any of the lyrics!

Although my French is terrible (i.e. I did not understand more than a few words of the lyrics most of the time), I had a terrific time listening to the local acts at this rollicking bar in Vieux Montreal. If you do not have a reserved table, be sure to arrive before 10pm, when the party really cranks up.
