If you appreciate gothic architecture and/or historical churches, then this is a great stop. They do charge to get in and there are tours offered at the basilica. We said a quick prayer and looked around at the amazing workmanship.

We took the guided tour in English. Guide Maria (whats in a name) did it very well, giving historic details with humour. Beautiful interior, with impressive organ.

Really impressive sanctuary and paintings. A must-see in a trip to Montreal. We were fortunate enough to be there during a free organ concert which added to the ambiance (though the Star Wars theme seemed out of place). Worth the price of admission

Don't forget to see the second chapel which is lovely too. Weekdays middle of the day are best in order to avoid the crowds. Very peaceful.
