All-in-all we were a bit disappointed by Old Montreal but the Place Jacques-Cartier was one of the exceptions ... It is nice to walk here, there are some restaurants on the square (watch out where you go !) and tourists can spend their money in...More

Place Jacques-Cartier is a pretty place with a lot going on and it's close to a lot of other things of interest. Since it's a free public space it's definitely worth taking a look. I wouldn't spend too much time there though as there isn't...More

Old section of Montreal, the streets are coble stone. The buildings in and around are distinct. Even in freezing cold the place is beautiful.

This cobble stone plaza is located in the heart of Old Montreal and has a wide promenade sloping downward from rue Notre Dame to the Old Port. Definitely a tourist stop, the plaza is lively mix of sidewalk cafes, street performers, artists drawing portraits and...More

We grabbed a beverage and watched the lights come up on City Hall after walking along the port area. Great street entertainment, restaurants if you like tourist food, and it quickly became my favorite area of Montreal. Don't skip this and sit a while to...More

Place Jacques-Cariter is surrounded by excellent restaurants serving a wide variety of food, anything from pizza to crepes. Artists often display their work. There are benches for people watching.

A nice park with a few hiking trails and a lake. However, the water activities were not available as we visited on a week day in October. A ride along the lake shore proved adventurous as part of the way is a one-lane road and...More

A ten-minute walk from the Champ de Mars Metro station, this area, closed to cars, is the fun heart of Old Montreal (its more serious heart would be the Notre Dame Basilica). It is lined on both sides with sidewalk café-type restaurants, some mainly for...More
