Urban Marmotte offers you great walking tours.

Lasting from 3 to 6 hours, we like taking the time needed to really show you around. Our tours are flexible and capture the backpacker's spirit: no rush, easy going, very informative and enjoyable. Our tours are a good mix of main attractions and places that are off the beaten tracks.

Try the Grand Tour, our famous 6 hour walking tour, showing up to eight different areas and ambiances - the perfect tour to have before exploring the city by yourself. Or take another tour like "Old Montreal in Depth", a 3 hours tour that takes the time this historical area deserves or instead visit the Old Montreal at its best with the Old Montreal by Night Tour.

See our website for a complete list of tours, schedules and rates. We also offer private tours.

Due to the short nature of my trip I wanted to do a walking tour that would cover a lot of ground in 1/2 a day. Michel was very accommodating in terms of organising a time- I just emailed ahead to do this. He was also very knowledgable and provided lots of great little insights during the tour. Although it... We had the best walking tour during our journey in Canada with Michel at Montreal! Michel was an enthusiastic guide, with a deep knowledge of the town. We walked for more than seven hours without feeling tired... It was so interesting and intriguing... We highly recommend the tour to everyone want go deep with Montreal!

I took the grand tour with Michel Sept 6 2016. He had no one else but happily agreed to a personal tour at a reasonable price. The tour was one of the best I have been on, and I have been on dozens. Highly recommended as Michel has a broad knowledge and can adapt to any taste or situation.

My partner persuaded me into taking a 6-hour walking tour of Montreal, and truth be told, I wasn't super excited to walk for such a long time. However, the moment that we met Michel, I was on board. Michel is charismatic, extremely knowledgeable, and kind. There were 6 people on our tour, and he took us to so many neighborhoods... More

This walking tour was a perfect way to begin our stay in Montreal. We covered a lot of ground to help us get comfortable with navigating the city. Plus getting to hear all the history of Montreal was great!

We were extremely glad that we decided to book this walking tour with Michel! It was a great orientation to the city and he was so very knowledgeable about Montreal. At the beginning of the tour, he asked everyone what they were interested in seeing and he catered the tour path to meet our interests. He had many historical photos... More

Michel met us at Dorchester Square at 11, and then we walked all over - downtown, underground, International district, old city, Chinatown, Latin quarter, Village, Arts area, Plateau, whew!! He took us places and showed us things that, if we had wandered on our own, we would never have seen. He was so friendly, knowledgeable, and approachable. We had a... More

No regrets taking up this tour. Learnt so much from Michel about Montreal, all the little details of the city and the different facets of the life and people in the city. Also appreciate the extra effort from Michel in fulfilling my request to see more than just the touristy areas. You may pay more but its definitly worth it and... More

I loved this tour. It was interactive and very informative. I live in Montreal and learned a lot. Michel was very good at explaining in both languages and was conscious of the needs of all members of the group. Highly recommended!

Staying in Quartier International

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier International
Designed to connect and beautify unused space, today the Quartier International is like a transversal piece of modern art. The distinctive design flair is most apparent at its focal point, the Palais des Congres, a convention centre and retail space with a multi-coloured glass exterior and an equally bold interior motif. Outdoors too, the Quartier is friendly towards public art exhibits along its stylish, plotted city squares, with extra-wide sidewalks meant to encourage long strolls and shaded benches available for absorbing the atmosphere. Fresh air and promenades characterise the area, from the foliage of Victoria Square to the fountain of Place Jean-Paul Riopelle, while the restaurants along Rue Saint-Antonie Ouest and Metro stops modeled in the Parisian style give off European glamour.
