We attended one of the evidently many free musical recitals which coincided with our stay at a nearby hotel. It was the ideal relaxation flowing a long day's footslog. The recital was built round a baroque trumpet suite of compositions (including Telemann and Bach) for the student's musical scientists but included one/two violins and one/ two villas plus harpsichord/organ a cello and a soprano soloist. All the musicians were top drawer and they gelled beautifully. The concert hall was obviously built for acoustic excellence and we felt privileged to have been able to visit and hear a first-rate recital

The hall itself is an unprepossing place, but the acoustics seem good enough. We went here for a performance of two Beethoven quartets, including the Rasumovsky and the Opus 130 with Grosse Fuge, by the Dover Quartet. A thrilling two hours! These young artists have already made a name for themselves and will go far. As for the Hall, it was only 2/3rds filled, which I found surprising given the quality of the performances.
