This was the best thing we did in Montreal!! I totally recommend this!! Make sure you dress in a bathing suit or something you can easily get undress in while wet, because you will get wet. The downside of this boating experience is that time flies while you are having fun. The owner makes you feel like you are a part of his family—very welcoming. Just a warning, sandals, two rain gears and a life jacket will not keep you dry!

We did the 20-minute speedboat tour and had a blast! It was $150 for 4 of us, taxes in, but we decided to do this in lieu of the Grand Roue (which was going to be $95) and my kids (6 and 9) insist that it was definitely the right choice :)

An absolute blast!!
Highly recommend this amazing white water experience . The staff made us feel at ease during the safety talk and there were lots of laughs too . As it was a very warm day in Montreal we chose not to wear the ponchos just the mandatory life vests . The trip in total lasts for 1 hour . It takes 15 minutes to reach the rapids and then you have 30 minutes riding the waves and then 15 minutes back to Montreal. It was unreal experience and be prepared to get very very wet as the waves can hit from the front and side . So much better than a theme park ride and wonderful to see the power of nature up close . So glad we did this as it is an experience we will never forget . All the staff from our captain , our guide and Jack the owner really made this a hugely enjoyable trip on the rapids . Do it - you won’t regret it - just come expecting to be soaked !!

My family and I were recently in Montreal and looking for a river boat tour. We saw one of the jet boats on the water and decided to book that trip. I have been a raft guide in paddle and oar boats part time for the last 28 years so I was not sure what to expect. I honestly say it was a great ride and lot of fun. The power of the jet boat going up river against the current was very cool. When the jet boat went into the first waves and wall of water came down on my family we were amazed.
What a great trip!
Thank you

Excellent ride! Unexpected as we were originally planning to do the shorter (and drier) “spin boat” ride and were persuaded by Jack to do the “number 1 ride in Montreal”.
As it was 35’c + outside this was the perfect ride to enjoy a good soak and experience the best of Montreal and the St Lawrence River.
The captain and guide were great and really did well to keep everyone entertained and safe. I was concerned initially about my 7year old on the ride, but he LOVED the ride! And the free shampoo was a bonus :D
I highly recommend this ride, only recommendation for improvement is to have the guide speak louder or walk around the boat as we were sitting in the back row and unable to hear the tour comments well with the engine running behind us.
If you do not want to get (as) wet, they have additional gear to protect your clothes and hair and also have a face shield which I found helpful. Some people brought their cameras on the ride and the cameras/phones were fine (there is a pouch onboard to place items). As well, they have sandals available, which may be an option if you have flip flops or runners (one person lost a flip flop on the ride) as your feet will definitely get wet!

It was an average experience for the price, but could’ve been a lot better. After paying over $260 with taxes for myself, my girlfriend and my 2 daughters, arriving 40 minutes earlier and being the one of the first ones to board the boat, we were told to sit in the second to last row. Tried explaining to the employee that my daughters although 10 and 11 years old… are very adventurous and wanted a thrilling ride and sit in front. The employee didn’t want to hear any of it and sat us in the back. At the end of the ride, both my daughters were frustrated that they didn’t sit in front after all our wait. Pretty frustrating as a parent to hear that after paying the price we did. Don’t recommend it.

After years of covid lockdowns, this is exactly what we needed! It felt so good to be speeding along the St. Lawrence with the wind whipping our faces and laughing and whooping with surprise as we rode a roller coaster of rapids. Tips: Come wearing your bathing suit because you will get soaked...even though you are wearing the Saute-Mouton fleece sweater and hooded rain jacket. Wear their velcro water shoes they provide. I am tall - 5'9'' - but my legs dangled off the seat and my feet didn't reach the floor. My Crocs would have been swepted away. Bring a towel and a change of clothes. They have toilets and change rooms for you to use. If you have a CAA membership, phone in your reservation and get $5 off per person. And do book in advance. I booked on Tuesday for a Saturday trip and I noticed that very soonr our time slot was booked.

Yes there is but I don't know it. You are not seat belted in on the Jet boat. I think I saw kids as young as 9 or 10.

If you are prone to sea-sickness, should you avoid doing this excursion?

If you want to give it a try, we would love to have you. Because the jet boat is very powerful, you do not feel the waves like on a regular boat. You must absolutely like water though, you'll receive a lot on you!

Do we need an advance reservation for 2 in June for this attraction? Does it fill up? We only have one day in Montreal to squeeze this trip in!
Saute-Moutons M

We advise to call about one week in advance to reserve to trip. For 1-4 people, we can almost always squeeze you in.

Do you need to book rafting/jet boating in advance or can it be purchased there? Do they accept credit card or only cash? How long is the ride and what is the earliest start time?
Saute-Moutons M
Montreal, Canada2 contributions
Hi there!
We recommend booking one week prior to the trip in order to secure the seats on one of the jet boats. For individuals, all you have to do is give us a call or contact us per email, give us your name and the number of passengers as well as their age, and you pay directly at the pier on the day of the trip.
For groups (10+ people), we need to make an official reservation with payment in advance.
We accept the following credit cards: MasterCard, Visa and AMEX.
The ride is one hour long, you need to arrive 45 minutes prior to the departure for the briefing & gearing up. The first departure of the day is 10AM (with arrival at 9:15AM at the Clock Tower Pier).
Hope this helps!
