One of the best things to do in Montreal. Wet, wild and wonderful!

One of the best things to do in Montreal. Wet, wild and wonderful!

Jet Boating the Lachine rapids is not only a local tourist attraction, but a symbol of the spirit, history, fun and adventure that make Montreal a world-class tourist destination.

Quite possibly the world's greatest city boat cruise tour!

Was quite nervous about his boat ride with my husband during our trip to Montreal. We emailed ahead of time and booked the trip, per instruction online. No upfront payment needed. We went on July 22nd and the day was beautiful, 80 degrees. There is a parking lot right at the doorway to the facility, which was a RED carrier... More

Our entire family from age 8 to 73 had a wonderful time on the rapids! It was the highlight of our trip to Montreal and one of the most enjoyable attractions we have experienced during our many summers of family reunions.

Jet boat on the St Lawrence rapids was a blast. I was lucky to sit in the front row and was on the front line of waves crashing into the boat. The strong impact of the waves was a jolt of fun.

We didn't actually understand the girl with the loudspeaker, in French or English, but it didn't matter - we were sitting in the back of the boat and the noise was very loud. The one thing you will want to pay attention to, is keep your mouth closed, some of those waves hit you quite violently. A few go up... More

This boat trip was absolutely fabulous Great fun, exhilarating and with out question very wet (I have seen fish that were dryer) Sitting in the front is by far the wettest and by far the most exciting The trip through the rapids is awesome. The only thing I wood add if I was the company is the introduction of Loud... More

I have lived in Montreal all my life, and this is one of those attraction that I've always wanted to do but never could find the time. Well I'm glad I did. WHAT A BLAST!. They take you from the Old Port to the Lachine rapids for an hour of soaking fun. My only complaint would be that it's wasn't... More

On our last day in Montreal, we decided to add a little adventure to the cultural experience we had had there. We had a blast. It was a very safe fun way to get out on the rapids and enjoy a drenching, wonderful hour on the river.

They tell you to bring a change of clothes, and we were glad we did! Somehow, even though I'd seen the pictures, I didn't really think we'd be going almost completely underwater. We had my parents, in their 70s, and my two teenaged kids, and everyone had a good time. I've been whitewater rafting several times, and thought it would... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
