I was on business and decided to stop in and see the famous "OLD PORT"

I was dressed casual on my day off and was made to feel like I was invisible.
If you don't look like you bleed money avoid this place and if you do you will be followed around like a shadow.

Not my favorite selection of art either. There are way better galleries in the area as Montreal does have some fantastic artists. This gallery however is to be avoided in my opinion.

Is it possible that you are referring to another gallery? I've read your review several times and it doesn't sound like us at all. Maybe you caught us on a bad day, if that's the case, I am terribly sorry you had this experience. This year is our 40 year anniversary. Over the years we have worked hard to find that delicate balance between giving our visitors the freedom to look around, and our urge to share our passion for our artists. Many of our visitors have no intention of purchasing art, however we still make an effort to greet them and give them the best tour possible. We do this without prejudice and without judging people by their appearance. I hope you will give our gallery another chance and see your experience as an isolated incident, because you are always welcome here.

Gem in Old Montreal

This gallery has something for everyone's taste. I had my eyes on the Star Wars art when my wife had her sights on contemporary pieces.

Also, you will love the staff. They were very friendly to us and the kids. Their prices are also down to earth.

A true Gem

One of my favourite things to do when traveling is visit art galleries. On my last trip to Montreal, I discovered this new gallery in Old Port. All I can say is wow. It was a magnificent space, full of collectable artists. Full of colour and life. A true gem of old Port. i spoke at length with one of the owners. What a pleasure to speak with someone so charming and knowledgeable. A true definition of customer service. I never once felt like a burden or disturbing them. Compared to other galleries next door where they barely acknowledge your presence and roll their eyes as you enter the door. I will definitely keep Arts Monaro in mind for my future acquisitions.

A beautiful space worth visiting

This place in the heart of old Montreal was such a pleasure to visit on our trip. It was nice to see something more than the usual touristy stuff and I have a couple of pieces that I would love to own rather than just buying something as a keepsake of the trip. The team was especially friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about their artists- I could have picked their brains for hours. Definitely will check back in with them once I am home but also on my next trip.
