Visited the martello tower on the Plains of Abraham during a recent Canada trip with the family, including kids ages 7 and 11. This was an actual martello tower, turned into a museum with augmented-reality exhibits. Each guest gets to borrow an ipad, which has...More

There are still three of the four original Martello Towers in place, one is where the hospital is now, a fascinating treat inside, take the audio tour and learn about life around the battle of Abraham times, well worth a visit a must see.

We saw the tower in the Plains of Abraham Park and found it most interesting as it is shaped like a large stone silo of sorts. The towers are part of the defense system of the city. Another striking example of the skill of the...More

Its a small compact site but is well restored and is set up with displays that give it an authentic feel. The kids enjoyed exploring the several levels and learning about the function of the tower.

We did this on our own, using the iPads provided at the Tower. It was an interesting introduction to local history, and presented in a way that would be fun for kids.

Three of the original four remain, and one may be toured. They are typical of the many towers built by the British in the 1800’s. They were much sturdier than the Block houses they replaced. The one near the river offers nice views.

This tower was one of four built. There are 3 left. We drove by on our caleche tour. The upstairs had a gun platform and the main floor could hold an army unit inside. This tower was built by the British and for defence.

We saw the Martello Tower on the Plains of Abraham when we walked to see the Joan of Arc statue. This is where the Canadian Army stored their ammunition.
