    A history lesson in pictures
The Petit-Champlain fresco is located at 102, rue du Petit-Champlain. This magnificent urban work was created by Murale Création in 2001 and underwent a restoration process in 2016. What adds to the charm of this fresco is that it is painted on a house with a mansard roof typical of many houses ancient in Quebec. Which allows us to observe that this design offered a lot of space in the attic. The fresco illustrates the popular and port district of Cap-Blanc life. The trompe-l'oeil wall depicts daily life in the Petit-Champlain district. Rue du Petit-Champlain, for its part, is one of the oldest in America. The history of Quebec and New France is closely linked to the maritime and commercial timber past. Historical and fictional characters complete this magnificent mural. The cannonball in the brick wall recalls the bombardment of Quebec by the English in 1759. The pile of bricks, for its part, evokes the numerous landslides in the Cape between 1841 and 1889 causing 86 victims in total. The chest located in the attic reminds us of what the Irish brought as their only luggage when they fled their country in crisis. Among the historical figures, we can see Captain J.E Bernier, a great Quebec navigator and explorer of the North Pole. In addition, we see Lord Nelson, a British officer who fell in love with a Quebec woman, as well as Gustave Guay, a sail repairer. The fresco also shows us other characters such as the wife of a worried sailor, who is waiting for the return of her husband or a worker who worked as a cager. In the 19th century, it was the fabulous epic of the cagers. This dangerous profession consisted of transporting logs of wood by flotation on rivers or rivers (large rafts).

    Love it
I'm a big fan of murals and this one at the end of Petit Champlain Street is just wonderful. It was created in 2001 and shows working class of Old Quebec. Pity that a part of it is hidden behind the fence. Beautiful!!!

La Fresque du Petit-Champlain” - vibrant and colorful masterpiece
The mural "La Fresque du Petit-Champlain" is a captivating depiction of the history of life in the lower town of Le Petit Champlain, located not far from La Fresque des Québécois. This stunning artwork offers a window into the lives of ordinary people, showcasing their day-to-day activities in the old days of Quebec. The lifelike portrayal of the people in the mural and the narrative quality of the artwork make it feel as though it is recounting the history of the neighborhood through a series of visually striking images. While it may be smaller in scale compared to La Fresque des Québécois, "La Fresque du Petit-Champlain" is a vibrant and colorful masterpiece that serves as an intriguing landmark along the Rue du Petit Champlain. It is a sight to behold!

The mural shows life in the history of this small, working-class neighborhood of Quebec City.
Quebec City has invested in and maintained huge murals throughout the city, they are very realistic looking, causing a double take if you aren’t expecting it. It’s easy to find yourself standing and craning your neck upward, finding little details near the end of Rue du Petit Champlain, is Fresque du Petit-Champlain, created in 2001. The mural shows life in the history of this small, working-class neighborhood of Quebec City. In addition to elements of seaport life and trade and a woman depicted as a sailor’s wife awaiting his return, in the mural, look out for Lord Nelson – This is the same Horatio Nelson of the Battle of Trafalgar fame where he defeated Napoleon. (If you’re not a history buff, just think Trafalgar Square in London, he’s atop the column in the center.

After walking or taking the cable car from Upper Quebec to Little Champlain Street, the oldest commercial district in North America, which is full of European style, walk along the street and you can see this painting themed on the history and life around Little Champlain Street. mural. The paintings are quite realistic, describing important events since the 17th century and the living conditions of ordinary people, giving tourists a preliminary understanding of the local area, and are worth a visit.

Fresque du Petit-Champlain is a real revelation. It is beautiful art work and it is free. It depicts the lives of common people at work in the old days of Quebec. Absolutely wonderful. We sat down and admired it for over an hour.

Fresque du Petit Champlain is a trompe l’oeil depicting the history of Cap-Blanc, Quebec City’s working class neighborhood. It’s not as large or well-known as the Fresque Des Quebecois, but is equally realistic and beautiful. It’s another must-see mural in Quebec City.

Take 5 minutes to admire this artwork and check all the little details. It shows local people doing their job in the older days. Located in the lower old town. Bus 11 or funicular elevator. The artwork looks 3D. FREE!

Rue Notre Dame has a mural of famous Quebecois. At the western end of Petit Champlain is a mural for the unfamous, those doing the necessary grind of work to make the economy move. It is smaller than its more famous counterpart but more colourful, reflecting day to day life. Walking westbound you cannot miss it. walking eastbound, look over your shoulder for this gem.

A wonderful mural which was very detailed. Saw this when wandering around the old town painted on the side of one of the buildings.

The fresco is located on the entire side of the building at the end of Rue du Petit Champlain (where it joins the Boulevard Champlain). It is a fascinating work of art depicting life in Quebec in the 1700’s. It truly appears to be three-dimensional.

It is a beautiful mural and well worth seeing.

If anything can outshine the charm of La Rue du Petit-Champlain itself, it is the magnificent fresco at the very end of this much celebrated pedestrian street in Lower Town. Of the many murals in Quebec City, this exceptional trompe l'oeil is my favorite, not only because the richness of colors and the splendid 3D rendition really bring the subjects to life, but because it is so perfectly integrated into the immediate surroundings and neighborhood; a page right out of the history books of New France. A masterpiece. By the way, the March 31 review titled "Si les murs pouvaient parler . . . " gives a short, informative historic background on this mural.

This is one of two huge murals in Old Quebec. Both are very impressive and beautiful ... this one (in Petit Champlain) is perhaps slightly smaller than the other one, which is located in Place Royale. Just walk to the end of Rue du Petit Champlain and you can't miss it!

Never tire of looking at them......so detailed. It pays to have a guide to explain about each section of the mural.
You do have to look over a fence to see the lower area of this. Also beyond the fence is a little park.
