Wanted something special for my wife, who was celebrating a milestone birthday. Considered the larger dinner boats but passed on the crowds and went with an EMQ sunset cruise. Absolutely awesome. Yves knows Quebec's past and present and was a magnificent narrator and skipper. From tales of 18th century French and English clashes to the fish eye's view of Montmorency Falls and the Frontenac/city lights reflecting on the water, this was precisely the unique experience I was hoping for.

The cruise was a great way to see and hear the history of Quebec City. The narrator switched seamlessly between French and English and was very clear. We learned a lot from a beautiful setting. Would definitely recommend this trip

Private tour on a great/cool boat with a captain/tour guide! It was magical & very special.

Amazing views & smooth ride.

The captain provided covers to keep us dry!
Safety was a big priority.

Yves has gotten me to work on time in Vieux Quebec throughout the summer. It’s awesome to have an accessible, reliable and safe alternative to la traverse Levis-Quebec. I fully support the union in their efforts for equitable compensation and am happy to have discovered Excursions Maritime Quebec as an alternative to the essential service les Traversiers provide us. My brother and his family have embarked on leisure tours with Excursions maritime Québec and the whole family loved it. I’m so excited to be able to get in a few adventures before winter comes. Merci beaucoup Yves! 👍🏼💙

My dear wife decided that for her birthday the usual carriage ride or intimate dinner was not enough so she booked us on a Zodiac sunset tour. An early dinner, champagne, a bottle of wine and we were prepped for the trip. He offered foul weather gear, boots and we accepted the mandatory life jackets.

If you are lucky enough to go at high tide, the view of Montmorency Falls at sunset is amazing. Any other time you can't get under the bridges but it was an amazing close up look. Then we fought the tide and wind back upstream with freighters passing by as they drifted down on the tides. The operator knows his stuff, slows the boat down as the bow waves or cross channel currents throw up large waves. I was just thankful to not fall out of the boat, THAT really would have been memorable, or at least for my wife.

The operator knows his business, safe and experienced (and I've sailed with idiots) and has a good historical patter to explain what's happened on the river in the last three centuries.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, we booked our trip with Yves directly through Excursions Maritimes Quebec. Yves was very responsive and open to customizing a day trip for the two of us. We began at 8:30 am, with a loop past the city of Quebec. (Yves said that the light would be best in the morning, and he was correct. We have some amazing pictures of the Chateau from the water.) We then proceeded traveling counterclockwise around Ile d’Orleans. Yves was a great tour guide, describing sights on both shores as we cruised in his Zodiac boat, and occasionally stopping to take photos of us with our camera. Throughout the day, he gave us several choices to customize the trip. When we reached the eastern end of the island, he pulled ashore at Saint-Francois. We were able to stretch our legs while we strolled through this tiny storybook village and sampled local chocolate. On our return trip, after passing Montmorency falls, he dropped us off for lunch at a waterside restaurant on the south shore of the island - Yves had made advance reservations for us. He picked us up two hours later, giving us plenty of time to walk around the western shore of the island, drink a bottle of wine, and buy more chocolate. We returned to Quebec City around 4:30.
This day turned out to be the highlight of our trip to Quebec. Yves was conscientious, attentive to our needs, and great company. We can’t recommend him highly enough.

The tour was entertaining and educational. It was a 90minutes tour which included an interpreter (French and English) who gave us a detail history of Quebec shipping industry, founding fathers, trade, finance, independence, development and growth.

The tour guide wore French custome and was very knowledgeable and entertaining, and willing answers questions.

It was a good tour, we were also able to see the beauty and power of the Montmorency falls from the boat tour

In all a good tour

This cruise on the St. Lawrence included outstanding commentary, with items from history and the culture of the area. You can’t preorder the weather, but our day was overcast without rain and the ship wasn’t too full. The falls were beautiful and the length of time - about 90 minutes - just about perfect.

Narrator slipped flawlessly from French to English and answered questions adeptly. All in all, worth the cost.

Yves, our guide/captain and owner of Excursions Maritimes Quebec took my wife and I on an excellent zodiac adventure and historic tour of the St. Lawrence, with a great history lesson on the 7 Year War and the development of Quebec. The zodiac was the perfect "vehicle" for touring the river, seeing the falls and it was a private tour for my wife and myself. Yves was perfect, answering our questions and giiding our almost 2 hour tour. I could not recommend Yves and Excursions Maritimes Quebec more highly. I would give it 6 stars if I could.

Captain Yves speaks good English w/ a thick French Accent and was VERY accommodating providing WARM waterproof coats/soft mittens/knit hats and lots of opportunity to take pics and have a custom made tour just for us 4!
He's soft- spoken, funny, and had tons of history/trivia info. We never felt rushed, and learned a ton. Steering us safely UNDER our Cruise ship in the Quebec Harbor made for 1 of a kind photos. Don't hesitate to book this very kind & capable Captain at a fraction of what other tour operators/cruise ships charge and leave your warm clothes in the hotel/ship cabin as HE provides it all! ONLY downside is the hard rubber side of the Zodiak boat is uncomfortable as you hold onto a rope the whole time...only 1 "Princess" can sit in a seat directly under the Captain...all others hoooolllddd on!
