I found myself in rural Maine two hours from Sherbrooke with my passbook. I had one day on my schedule available, so I decided to spend a few hours in Sherbrooke. I highly recommend starting at the tourist info center on Kings to get the booklet and map and following the route to see the various murals and neighborhoods along the way. Winter might not be the best time for that, though. I will definitely return, when I have more than 5 hours to spend. Sherbrooke seems to be a wonderful place to be.

The murals in Sherbrooke are beautiful and this is a nice free activity to be enjoyed if you have enough time to walk and enjoy them. The free map they give you at the visitor Center has a purple circuit marked for a suggested walking tour and a blue circuit marked which are locations further out from the city center. Be aware mural number three is located where you have to walk down a lot of steps. My husband and I were kind of in a hurry so we tried to drive it needless to say we had issues with parking, construction, etc.. do be aware of your surroundings at all times though because even when we were still on the purple circuit in the downtown area, there were some questionable people hanging around and one time there was a lady that was so wasted she could hardly walk. Then when we drove to the locations further out on the blue circuit, they were in some very questionable neighborhoods that did not make me feel safe at all so we decided to leave. All that being said the murals are very beautiful. Just be safe.

These are fantastic murals throughout the downtown. Once I got to them, they were wonderful to view. However, getting to them was a challenge for me. They were not all walking distance from each other, and driving posted a few challenges with construction and road closures, parking, and some were simply easy to miss.

I suggest you get a beautiful brochure from the tourist information before you start your journey.

We specifically routed our drive from Montreal to New Hampshire in order to see the big murals painted on walls. The murals, however, are spread all over town and there is no signage. Make sure to begin by picking up a free map at the tourist info office which is located on King Quest, in a building near the River (convenient parking is available). There are 13 murals, created in “trompe l’oeil style”, and worth your effort to see them. The City is making efforts to maintain them and refresh where needed (we happened to drive by one location that was being refreshed).

Good art. Medium experience. The mural tour deserves prominent signage and maybe a painted path on sidewalks. The app is great but our cell service was spotty. And the art is a bit spread out vs for example Chicago.

A bit disappointing as this could’ve been a more accessible Covid era outdoor activity.

Downloaded the Balado Discoery apps sure help to discover all these Murals. There is guide maps with position tracking. The Apps also give detail background of each Mural, which makes the whole experience much more enjoyable.
P.S. Sherbrooke downtown area has a bit more to see than just these Murals.

the ability to pre download the map and hunt for fun items like the elf. Keeps the kiddies happy and excited and not complain too much about the walk, while learning about the history and culture. Also, you can stop and start anywhere. There are also little cafes and bakeries along the way for pick-me ups.

This is a great way of discovering downtown Sherbrooke while admiring these wonderful pieces of creativity.
Most are just a few 100 meters away from each other, but if you go with young children or people with mobility restrictions, you may want to drive to some of them as the distances start piling up if you want to see all.
Get a map (there's at least one on-line) with the addresses. We could find all but one.

The Murals are incredibly detailed and informative and the information center gave us a map to follow. It ended up being very interesting and fun as they have hidden items in the murals to look for. Beautiful walk and nice, yummy bistros along the way to stop for breakfast or lunch. Would love to go back and take the older Grandkids - I think they would love it!!!

We enjoyed the Sherbooke Murals! Definitely download the free app from BaladoDiscovery, as it gives you more information on the artists, location of mural and the items to find within each mural. We only had time to find a few murals, wish we had planned this into our day. Just found on Tripadvisor the night we spent in Sherbrooke. What a neat, creative, fun way to tour around the town of Sherbrooke and enjoy the sights and the beautiful murals. Plus it is a free activity for the all family!
