My wife and I went on the basic "great Canadian Train Heist " tour yesterday . The leisurely pace of the train ride between Wakaw and Cudworth and back with a half hour or so stop at Cudworth ,was a perfect way to spend the afternoon. During the stop at Cudworth we took in the trackside train station museum , a real step into the past , and nicely organized. The restored coaches such as the 1950 Diner car from New York as well as the restored coach from New Orleans that was salvaged from hurricane Katrina as well as the two converted dayliners are an on board rolling exhibit not to be found anywhere else. The group of actors did a great job of interacting with the passengers as well as on board fun entertainment . A local singing Cowboy Larry Krause, wandered from car to car serving up a great repertoire of songs. The experience of feeling the train moving down the track gently rocking back and forth brought back memories of riding the train long ago. This is a very well run tourist attraction put together by a very enthusiastic and dedicated group of people . We highly recommend this or any of the other tours offered by Wheatland Express .

I took my two grandsons, 11 and 14 years old. It was a lot of fun and they really enjoyed it. Because it was their birthdays, each of the wonderful costumed characters came and sat down to chat with them. The characters were delightful actors staying in character through the entire afternoon. The conductor also invited the boys into the locomotive and they got to pull the whistle and move the locomotive from front to back for the return journey, a rare experience for anyone. If it wasn't for the terrible dry bread sandwiches with not much meat, which were overpriced to begin with at $22 each, it would have been perfect. The desserts were okay, but the carrot cake for example had about 3 1/2 tiny strips of carrots in the whole piece. While the train experience and the train heist were fantastic, we left absolutely starving and had to stop at a nearby restaurant to eat. Bring your own sandwich. We highly recommend they find a different food supplier. Otherwise perfect!

We went on the Wheatland Express yesterday, The Long Run band, a tribute to the Eagles first attracted us to purchase and invite family to join us before the pandemic hit. The 2020 cancellation had us waiting for this opportunity and it was definitely worth the year of wait. My husband and 2 of his siblings who all grew up in the area had fun on the train trying to figure out where we were exactly and remembering their experiences with various farm families. We also made new memories interacting with the actors on the train. They tried to keep us cool on the train with fans and refreshing beverages during the current heatwave and the tasty catered meal afterward at the Cudworth Hall was served in air conditioned comfort at assigned tables with lovely table settings. A fun menu had the dishes named after Eagles songs. The band was very skilled on instruments and voices, playing all the old favorites. Was also interesting to hear of future plans to expand educational and fun experiences. Not all trips are as extensive or expensive as ours was. Check the website for all possibilities.

I was so excited to experience an interactive program on this excursion. Didn't realize that they were going to have an unsuspecting customer run around trying to find clues and then figure out what to do with them. There weren't any actors on the train as far as I could tell. When we disembarked for or engine to be switched for return trip there was a short skit...never warned everyone they would be standing out in the cold and most of us couldn't hear or see anything that was going on. I paid over 320.00 for what was to be 4 of us, one guest was unable to make it, he was the lucky one, to sit on a train and visit with each other. Tour was extremely disorganized and amateurish for the price you pay. Sadly I won't be giving them a 2nd chance.

While waiting to board the train, in Wakaw, we were able to go for a wagon ride. Upon boarding the train, there were employees going around taking drink orders. All during the trip, there were different 'characters' walking through the train 'entertaining' everyone or asking individuals questions, etc. It was a wonderful trip and I would recommend it to anyone.

We went on the train robbery excursion - three adults and four kids (age 4-10). The kids enjoyed it very much, especially their interactions with the actors. They met them first in the “town” before boarding in Wakaw and continued interacting with them till the end. We were very impressed with how wonderful they were with the kids!

The first half of the trip, to Cudworth, passed by very quickly. The drink service was prompt and our pre purchased snacks arrived soon after boarding. They were excellent. We all wondered around the train as well. The return trip from Cudworth dragged a bit. It was pretty hot by then and the four year old was done!

If you take this trip, note that you really don’t have to arrive a hour early. 20 minutes would be fine. There was a singer and characters in the town, along with a bar, to entertain you before the trip.

We had such a good time on the ‘Murder Mystery’ train ride. First, one couple could not come due to cancer treatment… Wheatland was understanding and agreed to provide a certificate for future use. I was totally happy with their response as Air Canada or Westjet and many other big companies would not have such compassion.

Second, if you sit in the train and do not interact then you will miss half the fun. Our group of 6 had a great time trying to solve the mystery. The actors were professionals and the story is good.

Third, we enjoyed Alibi vodka made in Wakaw which earned ‘World Best Vodka’. Think about it, ‘World Best Vodka’! You could choose from a list of beer, wine, special vodka drink and more. I did not have food but I saw people have a huge box filled with a variety of cheese, charcuterie etc. It looked delicious and when we go back on our next Wheatland Express Christmas train ride, we will order that.

Fourth, the Little Big Town is very well designed. It is a top notch experience.

I really don’t know why someone would be disappointed with a ‘Murder Mystery Train Experience’! We have visited over 90 countries, have experienced many different unique situations (safaris in Tanzania and Botswana, Galapagos, bushmen, sumo wrestling in Japan…) and I (and hubby) was totally happy and surprised with my afternoon.

Good job Wheatland Express!

We started in Saskatoon boarding a complimentary shuttle bus that took us to Wakaw. The hour long train trip from Wakaw Sk to Cudworth Sk and then back to Wakaw was highly entertaining and fun . The Actors and staff were all friendly and knowledgable. Pre ordered Lunch was catered by `Chef de Partie`and was very good .
My only complaint was that more verbal back ground history , direction and timing should of been relayed both at the shuttle and again at Wakaw before and after the train ride .

It was so cozy and inviting! The staff were very friendly and the actor’s were so cute and magical. My children loved the whole experience and so did I . It was very clean and beautifully decorated you could tell it was a labour of love . The whole experience was Christmas magic and we will definitely be back. There was music , a meeting with Santa, hot chocolate bar, a bar cart, lots of time to check out every cart on the excursion. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a Christmas experience that is unlike any other

The whole trip was truly disappointing. We were looking forward to lots of fun and interactive play but most of the trip was spent sitting bored staring out at wheat fields! From arriving at the station and having no idea where to go with noone giving directions and lack of instructions to lack of things to see and do. When finally on the train, the actors stopped by our table for afew minutes three times. Arriving at the other end of the ride, there again was nothing to see or do! Lack of actors and activities as well as places to go made this Train Heist a flop!! Not recommended at all.
