My wife and I went to Whitehorse for our anniversary celebrations. The entire experience with Northern Tales was extremely smooth and the staff was incredibly easy to work with. They are incredibly quick and responsive over email, lay out all the available options so that you have complete information while booking.

The best part about the 3 day package was that they also included great rates for the hotel and flights (to and from Vancouver). We went during the US thanksgiving holidays and got to see the northern lights 2 out of 3 nights!

There are cozy cabins to chill with the group and the guides take great professional photos which are included in the experience. This is very helpful since its hard to take out your own phones in such cold weather. We also got the winter clothing rental so we didn't have to carry a lot of luggage. Experiencing -30C was a wondrous experience in itself.

Overall, its an incredible experience that I would highly recommend!

I booked the Aurora spotting with Northern Tales myself (via the internet and emails) and did 2 nights of aurora spotting with them. They were so professional and friendly and the transfers to and from the aurora spotting site were punctual and in a warm and comfortable van.
The site itself is wonderful with a warm fire to toast marshmellows and comfortable (and warm!) cabins to warm up those fingers and toes whilst waiting for the aurora to show. Hot drinks and snacks are also provided.
We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights on both nights, with the second night being truly spectacular. Initially we were worried that a full moon would diminish the views, but it didn't hinder it at all. Even with cloud cover on the first night, we still managed to get a glimpse of the lights as well.
I highly recommend Northern Tales for your Aurora experience. The team at Northern Tales ensure your night is one to remember!

Whitehorse was the last stop on our cruise-land tour. The hotel recommended Norther Tales and we called and got a reservation for the next night. We were picked up at our hotel and taken to a great spot with no city lights. There were two heated cabins with hot coffee, tea, cocoa and some snacks. There was also a nice campfire outside with plenty of seating. Toilets were also available. They gave us small red lights to make our way down a short path to a vey large clearing away from the cabin lights and firelight. I've never seen the Milky Way before! The night sky was fabulous. The guides helped many with setting up their cellphones to take pictures. They even provided tripods. There are a few benches so you can sit and enjoy the sky and the sounds of the surrounding forest. They took numerous photos including time lapse with each person or group with the aurora in the background. They offered a link to get the pictures for free. We were lucky to see the aurora for over an hour so this experience was a highlight of the trip for many of us. Northern Tales offered great prices and all of the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time.

Absolutely the best!!! If you are thinking of seeing the Northern lights look nowhere else. Staff is just amazing from front desk where I ended up asking easily 100 questions which was answered with such professionalism as well as the guides who were so nice to make sure they take care of everything for you like making you feel cozy and comfortable in the cabin while they look for lights to taking stunning pictures from their own camera so you don’t have to take your phone out in that biting cold. And, the photos are free to download - a rariety when everyone tries to charge for all the extras. They were very patient to have several switches for my son’s rental clothes since they were not fitting. Also, don’t forget to book all the other day tours with them. I even changed the tour dates a couple of times and they were able to take care of all of it. They are just the best hands down!! Trust me look no further !! Book the hotel too with them so it is so easy to handle everything in one shot intact it turned out to be less expensive than booking on your own. ABSOLUTE fan of this crew!!

My visit to Whitehorse to see the Northern Lights was the grand finale on my Alaska/Canada holiday. After booking my Aurora tour from Vancouver through Landsby, 3 of us were picked up from the airport by (Italian) Matteo in one of the Northern Tales vans. As we were driven to our hotel, he gave us a brief introduction to Whitehorse, describing things we passed, some of the history, and good places to go for various cuisines and souvenirs.
Late that evening, Mike and Michael picked us up, along with others from our hotel, and drove us out of town to their aurora viewing area which featured two well-heated cabins with drinks and snacks, a lit campfire with seating (and seat pads), two long-drop toilets and a huge, dark clearing from which to watch the aurora.
Mike and Michael set up their own tripods and assisted us to take pictures with our mobile phones, with and without tripods. Between taking endless photos of us under the aurora they kept the fires going, and the hot drinks and snacks topped up until our 2.30am ride back to town.
The next day Kevin drove us on our city tour, with Michael along for the ride, and we learned more about Whitehorse and its history and features, stopping along the way for wonderful photo opportunities. That night we snapped away at a brighter, more intense and active aurora with (French) Matteo and Kevin in attendance, taking and assisting us with our photos, making light-drawing photos with us and keeping us warm and well-supplied with goodies.
A ride to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve to see the animals in their care occupied us the next afternoon. Esteven provided great explanations and interesting descriptions of the various animals, their habitats and their habits, and gave us ample photo stops along the way.
On our last night in Whitehorse there was no sign of the aurora but we filled our time with chatting in the cabins and sitting around the campfire. Mike ducked into the cabin and whipped up some dough which we attached to sticks and cooked over the flames, making delicious maple syrup-dipped bread.
Each and every member of the Northern Tales team was exceptional - friendly, relaxed, responsive, knowledgeable, and passionate about their roles, the local wildlife and their home of Whitehorse. To top off a wonderful, once in a lifetime experience, all photos taken of us on the Northern Tales cameras were freely available to us via a link. Brilliant!

We had the most amazing time with Northern Tales during our visit to Whitehorse! We booked the 3-night package with aurora viewing and added some day tours, and from start to finish, everything was seamlessly organized.
From the moment we landed at Whitehorse airport, we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Northern Tales handled every detail, making sure we always knew where we needed to be and when—everything ran like a well-oiled machine.
We also opted to rent winter clothing through Northern Tales, and that process was just as smooth. The clothing package was ready for us when we checked into our hotel, which made everything so convenient.
The staff were absolutely incredible! Everyone we met was welcoming and friendly, and they truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic time. We spent most of our time with Sydney, Matteo, Naomi, and Esteve, and they were phenomenal. Their enthusiasm and genuine interest in making sure we had the best experience made us feel truly special and cared for.
We were lucky enough to spend New Year’s in Whitehorse, and it was such a magical way to celebrate the occasion. The memories we made—especially the aurora viewing—are ones we’ll cherish forever.

We booked with Northern Tales to see the Aurora Borealis and the Wildlife Preserve as we were in Whitehorse only for 2 days. Thanks Angi, Jordan and Esteve! The best experience ever!!!!
To see the Auroras, Jordan picked us up at the hotel and we drove to a nice cabin in the woods to wait…Thanks Jordan for that hot coffee, keeping the fire on for our group and showing me in the tripod the time-lapse mode! The Aurora Borealis pics turned out amazing! Dream come true! The waiting was worth it!!! When we saw the Aurora it was magic!
Next day we took the Wildlife Preserve tour. Esteve was our amazing guide! Again picked us up on time at the hotel and drove us to the Preserve. He is a top guide!!! Explained every aspect of the animals and the preserve with passion. We got to see all the animals except the fox. Very well organized tour!!! Congrats! Thanks for giving us the time of our life’s!

Epic trip to The Yukon.

We went Northern Lights viewing and to The Wildlife Preserve and Hot Springs with Northern Tales, they included pickup from the airport and a short city tour of Whitehorse as well.
Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) is a natural phenomenon and of course not guaranteed to see, but we were lucky enough to see the lights on the last day.

Northern Tales took awesome pictures with professional camera equipment and provided us with arctic winter clothing that kept us warm during the cold Yukon nights. We roasted some Elk and Bison Sausages by the campfire and original Canadian S'Morres (Marshmello Caramello).

The guides are super fun and knowledgeable, especially Kevin and Aaron.

Kevin informed us with some astonishing facts about The Yukon Wildlife during the Preserve tour. Very interesting facts about the animals living in this territory!

During our Whitehorse City Tour Aaron dropped some serious knowledge about The History of this land and gave us awesome recommendations for the best local shops, restaurants and specialties. (i.e. Bison Cranberry Sausage at the DELI)

Northern Tales is great organization and we would like to Thank all of You a lot for making this such an unforgettable experience for us.

The hospitality in the cabin was superb, a warm stove drinks and snacks and helpful knowledgeable guides to help with camera settings. Good advice about tripods to help keep the camera steady whilst taking a long exposure shot.

Alas if its cloudy or raining there is no chance of seeing the Northern lights.
Similar tale in Dawson City where we hoped being more northerly there might be more chance of a viewing.

We had a wonderful time during this trip to see the northern lights. Our goal was to see the lights at least one time, but at the end of our trip we flew back with so much more than some memories. The whole team of Northern Tales made every moment special especially our guides during the Aurora viewing. Whitehorse has a magical energy that pulls anyone who wishes to be in the wilderness and traps them with its refreshing ambiance. We were blessed with a magical aurora night but even the ones where the lights weren't as present, the guides always were there to make sure we had a good night.

Our experience could be resume a pure magical experience. We would recommend it at least once to anyone who wishes to have an unforgettable and refreshing experience and want more than just a small vacation !!
