Our forest research crew flew with Capital Helicopters for 9 days in Kluane National Park in August 2021. Both pilots (Melvin and Matt) were highly skilled at flying in mountainous terrain and landing in tight or challenging spots at times. The helicopter was well-maintained and spotless. Both pilots were also friendly and pleasant to deal with. Given that I have done this sort of work for 3 decades, I give high marks to Melvin, owner of Capital Helicopters.

Pilot Matt shuttled gear and group around Turn Back Canyon, then shuttled our smaller group to Haines Junction. Having flown to complete geologic and geophysical surveys for over 40 years, it was a treat to receive a first class view of the river, along with very accurate descriptions of the geology and hydrology. Excellent, fun pilot and clean helicopter.

We visited Whitehorse in early December 2016 and took a 90 minute tour with Melvin over the mountains. Words cannot describe how incredible this experience was, but I will try.

It was humbling and inspiring to fly above crisp, snowy peaks on a cold winters' day with the sun blazing and creating beautiful shadows over the landscape. Canada is a beautiful country and I feel so fortunate to have been able to see such a spectacular corner of the world. My jaw was slack the entire trip, it was mesmerizing.

Melvin was far more than a pilot (and he's a great pilot). He described the various mountain ranges, lakes and valleys we saw, as well as tidbits he has gleaned from flying researchers out to their remote posts in the area. We learned a ton. Due to his expertise (and a bit of luck) we saw multiple moose, caribou, and a herd of mountain sheep storming up a mountain. It was like an episode of Planet Earth.

It is an expensive experience but I highly recommend it if you can afford to.

Melvin was our pilot and guide today. We went on a tour of the city, Fish Lake and the surrounding mountains. We were super lucky and saw caribou, sheep and a moose!

Our trip was fantastic! Melvin is wonderful and the scenery is amazing. I would book another trip for sure.

We were passing through beautiful Whitehorse on our way to Alaska! We wanted to do something fun and different with the kids! They loved the ride! It was beautiful! The whole family had a blast! Melvin was very friendly, polite and professional! He went out of his way to make a great Whitehorse memory for our family! Highly recommend! Thanks a bunch for the wonderful experience!

This was my first flight ever on a helicopter. Great Northern Heli Sports service, experience and sight seeing tour was amazing. I've never experienced up close vista views from up top of mountains and the beautiful Whitehorse area.

Landing on a mountain 6,500 feet high, walking around and having a picnic was the most amazing experience and was definitely the highlight of the tour. We even saw wildlife on the way back!

The pilot, Melvin, was super friendly and informative. Melvin controlled the helicopter with ease and has an incredible knowledge of the Whitehorse area.

This is my second helicopter tour with them (I have took a lot of them in many places but this is for me the best one), and if I go back I will go on another tour, each time I have selected a different one, they have from short to long ones, in particular I like the medium to long ones.
I must say I only have been there in the winter, and both times the tour was just for us, the attention is amazing, these guys are very friendly they are at your service and make you feel good the whole time.
To see the mountains, lakes, lagoons all covered in snow, when you land (this depend on the tour) in a secluded place its really priceless.

I had a tour of the area recently. Melvin was my pilot and words cannot express how incredible an experience it was. From a mesmerizing tour of the landscape to history and geology lessons, I cannot strongly enough emphasize how much you need to take a flight with these guys and experience this. The Yukon is vast and beautiful and driving through it will NOT do it justice.
