This trip has been an experience of a lifetime! I cannot but award excellent for everything, beginning with the general organization (fitting of lifejackets - required by law- and paddles, the 5 hour trip in the van from Whitehorse to Rose River Number One), the intensive and very patient teachings of our German guide Wolfgang on the innumerable tracks of wolf, bear, moose, beaver... and on how to fish (I caught my first pike!), to the amazing cooking abilities of our German Yukonite guide Robert, who surprised us with three delicious meals a day, fresh fruit and vegetables included! And who never lost patience in answering our many questions. And ending with the perfect weather (only half a day of light rains)! An altogether amazing and awesome experience, the vastness and silence of Yukon nature and rivers are still with me weeks later... A highly recommendable tour (just make sure to bring a winter sleeping bag, even summer nights in the Yukon can be quite cold!)

This was an absolutly exciting experience. We were three people (our guide François, my wife and myself). This was a small group, but for us it was an advantage. Nature Tours prepared the trip in a very professional way. We got good material and enough food. We didn't miss anything.
One of the highlights was the flight with a waterplane to the Cariboo Lakes. Especially for us Europeans an amazing experience.
We started canoeing on small Cariboo creek and ended close to Watson Lake, where the Liard river is as broad as the river Rhine. The landscapes were very different aswell. At the beginning, you are in a mountain area (Pelly range). Later the river winded through rather flat areas with impressive land cuts. There is a lot of variety!
You can get on this trip a rough idea of the vast wilderness of Northern Canada. During the whole trip on the river (about 350km) we never met other people. So if you would like to see and feel "real Canada" you should do this trip. On a journey like this you can leave daily life behind you and you learn again what the essential things are in life. Isn't it exactly this what we are looking for in vacation? The days passed very quickly.
It is very important that you have a good guide. As Nature Tours is a rather small company, they have very experienced staff. And François is the best guide! With him we could improve our paddling skills. We learned many things about "how to behave in the wilderness". His cooking skills were absolutely great! We were surprised about his various Mediterranean cuisine. And finally in the evening at the campfire we had interesting conversations.
I can warmly recommend to do the Liard river trip. With Nature Tours you have the right company to enyoy it.

Where to start! My Dad and I will be reflecting on this trip for the rest of our lives. From the start their website and admin was thorough and well organized. Their pack list and other tips lead us to be fully prepared and ready. We felt that no detail was too small or overlooked.
Our guide, Francois, was phenomenal. He gave a great briefing the day prior to the hike and we were always at ease with him as our guide throughout the trip. Food was amazing, wilderness safety was always a priority, and it was consistently a positive atmosphere despite the challenges of the trail.
I did the Dempster Highway trip with Joost and NatureTours 8 years ago, and have counted down the days to this trip. I hope to book a canoe trip with them in the near future. I will continue to recommend this company and their adventures to my friends and family.

We did the 7-day (i.e. 5-day) trek along the historic Chilkoot Trail with our guide, Robert, and his super Alaskan Husky, Opie. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the whole experience! The scenery was absolutely INCREDIBLE!! Robert was very knowledgeable, organized, patient and thoughtful. His genuine passion for guiding and the great outdoors was inspiring and it was a pleasure to trek with him. Josi ensured that our many questions leading up to the trip were carefully answered and she was an absolute joy to work with. We couldn't have asked for a better experience with Nature Tours of Yukon from the planning to the conclusion of our journey. We only wish we could've stayed longer! If you're considering booking with this company, don't hesitate—you'll be glad you chose them!

Thank you for your kind words and review, Alicia!
We were happy to have you join us on the first Chilkoot hike of the season, and hope you will be back for another (longer) vacation soon.

We visited the Yukon, Canada in February 2019. We went on the Arctic Discovery Tour which was organised by Nature Tours of Yukon. What a fabulous trip - Nature Tours organised everything beautifully which would not be an easy task given the vast, isolated and snowy land we travelled across and also the very cold climate. Our guide Robert was fantastic and we very much appreciated his careful and safe driving. Robert was very knowledgeable answering all our questions and offering so much more information. Our accommodation was great and our queries via email were always answered promptly by Josie. Everything went without a hitch and we also got to see some awesome northern light displays as well. We were always made welcome wherever we went and we met some wonderful people along the way. Even got to drink the famous Sour Toe Cocktail in Dawson City !!! So if you are thinking of checking out the Yukon in winter go with Nature Tours of Yukon - they will look after you and send you home a happy traveller.

Dealing with Josie from Nature Tours was an absolute pleasure. No request seemed to difficult to her and Josie organised a wonderful time for my daughter and I to participate in dog sledding, snowmobiling and viewing the northern lights. In regards to viewing the northern lights Robert our guide was wonderful. In the middle of the night built a campfire and we had hot chocolate with toasted marshmallows under an amazing sky. I would highly recommend Nature Tours.

I have booked flights and hotels twice through Nature Tours and one I have booked events (dog sledding, ice fishing, northern lights). My most recent booking was flight and hotel in Inuvik and hotel in Whitehorse. Josi has done a splendid job in recommending places to go and things to do in Whitehorse and Inuvik. She is reliable, friendly and efficient. Nature Tours is a one stop tour operator that will give you good value for your money and will allow you to book tours that will truly make your experience in Whiteehorse or any where in the Yukon or northern Canada a memorable, comfortable and happy experience.I strongly recommend Josi and Nature Tours.

After three memorable summer visits to the Yukon, I wondered what it would be like to experience “North of Ordinary” in the winter. Maybe it had something to do with having read Jack London as a kid and wanting to heed the Call of the Wild all these years.
But I needed a reason to make the long trek from my home base near Ottawa. On my last visit, in 2017, I had accidentally wandered into the Yukon Quest office and was intrigued. The annual 1600-km dogsled race between Whitehorse and Fairbanks, Alaska, would be leaving from Whitehorse in 2019 and I wanted to be there! A quick search on the Internet found a few tour operators, but only one with a confirmed departure and that was Nature Tours of Yukon.
Thus began a delightful correspondence with Josi in the spring of 2018. She was full of information and encouragement. Still, I hesitated, not knowing whether I could book a direct flight on Air North (as it happened, I couldn’t). But, as the emails flew back and forth, the seven available spaces in the group (one of the great things about Nature Tours – small groups) started to fill up and I added my name to the list.
As fate would have it, I left Ottawa at the end of January in the midst of a massive snowstorm. Two canceled flights and several changes later, I arrived at midnight in the Land of the Midnight Sun. It felt so good to be back, especially during a rare mild spell.
The hotel was one of the better ones in Whitehorse and the package of rental clothing fit me perfectly. It saved me from hypothermia, as the mercury soon plunged to minus 40. Outfitted with three bottom layers under heavily insulated snow pants, three upper layers, a parka, three neck warmers, two hats, arctic boots, fleece-lined mitts, toe and hand warmers I managed to survive. The gear was essential the day I went dogsledding – an optional extra arranged by Nature Tours.
Our wonderful tour guide, Stefan, an old Yukon hand with a wealth of knowledge, piloted us expertly around Whitehorse and on up to Dawson – there, to await the arrival of the mushers. In the free day before they arrived, Stefan took us to see the sights and even managed to fit in an afternoon of snowshoeing and a tailgate picnic at Tombstone Territorial Park. The weather was a bit dodgy that day, but we knew we were in safe hands with Stefan.
After the earliest mushers had gone through, we flew back to Whitehorse from the tiny Dawson airport, which boasts a gravel runway. It was kind of like the good old days of air travel that some of us vaguely remember. In Whitehorse, there were hugs all around and then we went our separate ways. But I shall always remember this magical experience and am eagerly looking forward to further northern adventures with Nature Tours of Yukon – a thoroughly professional tour operator who really look after their clients.

From start to finish our Yukon Quest Tourer was the best ever, the organising of accommodation ,the sightseeing ,getting us to the right places at the right time, plus the company of our wonderful guide Stephan.I don,t think our trip would have been as half as exciting if Stephan wasn,t our guide for the tourer, his input &knowledge of the different places was invaluable as was his adventurous spirit, also to add to the equation he had a lot of contacts which was handy on many occasions .His snowshoeing expeditions were a hoot as there was probably more off trail than on trail which really enhanced the feeling of how remote we really were,His driving skills were top shelf as the road conditions up to Dempster were sketchy (as you locals call it).The Yukon Quest mushers banquet at Whitehorse was excellent with good food & good company. We also had a chance to catch up with the mushers if you didn,t get to meet them at the Mushers meet & greet ,we also got to meet the General Manager of Nature Tours Joost van der Putten. Whilst the Nature Tours Team were always very professional ,the ongoing genuine friendliness was so refreshing & the help & advice given over the phone by Josi prior to our departure was reassuring to say the least ,we knew then that we were dealing with genuine people & a reputable tourer company .We personally cannot say enough about Nature Tours ,highly recommend & hopefully when we do come back we will once again enjoy the teams company.

Thank you very much for your kind words (and the pun), Ian!
It was lovely meeting you and Deborah at the Start Banquet in Whitehorse, and we're glad that you had a great time with Stephan during your Yukon Quest Tour. We also do hope that you will return to the Yukon, so we can show you around a bit more.
Greetings from Josi & Joost
