About Terre Boreale
Based out of Whitehorse and run by two french people whom graduated with a conservation biology degree, Terre Boreale offers canoe trips, hiking trips and discovery tours in Yukon and Alaska in both French and English. Besides discovering the breath taking landscapes and colours of the North, our background allows us to provide an experience as close to the wilderness as possible through its observation, understanding and preservation. Because we want all our customers to have a unique experience we limit our group size to 6 customers per trip. This group size also allows us to travel the wilderness with high chances of viewing wildlife without disturbing it. Every one has different travel expectations, therefore Terre Boreale offers customized trips in Yukon and Alaska in all seasons.

My wife and I just wrapped up a 4 day trip to Whitehorse during which we did the 'Stars & Lights' tour with Max. The experience was amazing and Max proved to be a warm, attentive, passionate and extremely knowledgeable guide. We loved the combination of star gazing, astronomy and yes, aurora borealis hunting at night... with day hikes and excursions. The evening at the Yukon Astronomical Society observatory was very special and a great way to get introduced to both the northern sky and the amazing homemade raspberry cookies :-). Terre Boreale is a labour of love. Max & Milena have created something very special in their adoptive Yukon. We highly recommend the experience and we will definitely be back in the Yukon for more at some point. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed !

I cannot recommend Max enough!! Seeing the lights has been a lifelong dream for me, and leading up to the trip I was stressing as the forecast was not looking great and I may come all this way to not see anything! Max identified the most likely evening we may see the lights that we were in town, and helped us shuffle plans to make sure we got out on the most likely night. Unbeknown to me, he was also organising my proposal with my better half behind the scenes! His knowledge of the area, wilderness, astronomy / astrology and the lights is incredible. His passion for his job SHINES through and makes for an amazing evening. The groups are small, we were actually on our own, which brings a great personal feel to it all. The fact that he will move to various locations trying to find the best spot for the lights was also a HUGE winner for me! We have an incredible memory (and photos, hes a great photog!) of our engagement and realizing my lifelong dream, and I am grateful to Max for that! We hope to be back to do a summer hiking trip with him and his wife soon :)

My husband and I and two friends booked this trip by helicopter into the Ruby Range for 6 days of hiking. The trip was well-planned and met our expectations. Max and Milena were great guides, providing good companionship, high-quality equipment, knowledge of the local wildlife, and exceptional food that they prepared and de-hydrated at home than re-hydrated in camp. They led us on interesting day-hikes from our base camp everyday with minor adjustments to take into account each person's physical abilities. This is a trip for people that are reasonably fit, making our own way across rough terrain (no trails) and climbing ridges for spectacular views. Highly recommended. The Ruby Range may look all the same from afar, but up close it is varied and intriguing with great views to Kluane National Park.

I can’t recommend Max and his sweet wife enough! Max truly loves what he does and goes above and beyond to give you an amazing experience. He gave our family a truly amazing experience. He knows his stars and the presentation he gave us while we waited for the Aurora was fantastic. It was very cold the night he took us out and windy, too. We had been traveling and we’re all so tired, but he was so patient with us as we did end up waiting in the van for a little while. Our group was small and I really enjoy that as it’s more personable. We had done another tour with another company and there was too many people for me. It truly makes a difference. My son has a camera and is still learning to use it but Max was so accommodating and sent us a few that he had taken, very appreciative as seeing the northern lights was a big deal for us. On our drive back to the hotel we were offered tasty homemade cookies and hot tea.I miss Whitehorse already and hope to go back. If we do, we’d call Max at Terre Boreale again without a doubt! Make your reservation today!

My son, two friends and I had the pleasure of hiking and camping in the Ruby Range, Yukon Territory, for 6 days with Max and Milena. We flew by helicopter from Haines Junction to the Ruby Range where we set up a base camp and did day hikes. The helicopter returned to move our gear to the second site and while we hiked there, and then did more day hikes from the second location. Terre Boréale provided the perfect opportunity for us to see some beautiful, remote country without having to worry. We were picked up at the airport; tents and gear were provided; healthy, hearty meals provided; knowledgeable guides who ensured that we saw and accomplished as much as we could. I had never done any wilderness camping, but Max had provided us with a detailed list of gear to bring. Hiking poles are a must!! He was very quick to respond to any and all questions prior to and during the trip to ease any anxiety about being in the wild. The tour was tailored to the needs of our group. We were able to do a lot of hiking each day as we didn’t have to carry all of our gear, only what we needed for the day. Thus it was a hiking trip without having to be a backpacking trip. It was a great experience.
