Northern Lights and Huskies

Our location is very unique and our family are our dogs. We do have over 100 friendly and lovable dogs on site. "We are a place for people who love dogs"

We are located outside the city light pollution so northern lights are visible directly overhead of our lodge, no need to drive anywhere. In addition to that we are located right at the shores of a river and for as long as the river is no frozen (until late October) there is a chance to get mirror pictures of the Northern Lights.

Takhini River Summer Camping

This Adventures has a little bit of everything. There will be a short section of whitewater , which also can be easily portaged. Most the river is easy to paddle with amazing views. The peace and quiet is surreal if you never experience it. Our adventures will only be with small groups of no more than 4 boats. Our river guides are certified and experienced. Wildlife in the Ibex valley is abundant and there is a change to see some bears, beavers, eagle, moose or more along the way. And of course it would not be a Muktuk Adventure if there would not be at least one dog joining the adventure.

My friend and I had an amazing time dog sledding. We were each able to have our own crew of dogs and mush the whole time. Very hands on and overall great experience. The dogs were also so friendly. Highly recommend !! Manuela was very patient and accommodating.

My second visit to Muktuk and I wasn’t disappointed. Wonderful food and hospitality and puppies! I went on the dog sledding drive, the visit to the animal reserv, walked to the river with the dogs and saw the Northern Lights. It’s amazing for the active and those who want to relax. The huge log house is warm, clean and welcoming - and COVID restrictions are observed. A great trip for anyone for BC during the current crisis - and for other travelers once restrictions are lifted. After a weekend break I felt more relaxed than I have in months. Thank you - I will be back.

The family who oversee this operation are amazing human beings and you can see that the dogs are loved and well cared for. All of the doggies are absolutely amazing too! And to our girls who took us on the ride of our lives; thank you to Hazel, Alto, HardRock, Sprint and Janis. Wow! It was such an exhilarating experience. Sledding along the Takhini River on ice and through the snow, was one of most awesome experiences we've had the pleasure of doing in our lives. It was so much fun and our guide was awesome. Huge thanks to Jeff/Geoff and his team, for taking such good care of us. We love your dogs! We had a sensational time and look forward to coming back again some day! Thank You for providing a major highlight on our first trip to Canada.

We had an awesome experience dog sledding on the Takhini River with Muktuk Adventures on March 4, 2020. All aspects of Muktuk Adventure's operation are top-notch. From the excellent winter clothing and footwear that they have you wear, to knowledgeable guides who were excellent instructors and trail guides to the dogs, clearly the stars of the operation, Muktuk runs a great operation. The dogs are fit and eager to run and tow the sleigh. I marveled at how 6 dogs, seemingly without any cues, could surge forward as one! We had lots of opportunity to interact with the dogs. Our guides, Andrew and Seive (my apologies for mangling the spelling) were some of the best guides that we have encountered over our years of rafting, hiking, etc. They worked well with people to ensure that we knew what to do and were supportive. By the end of the day all 8 clients had experienced the delights of driving a dog sled. And of course the Takhini River presented us with great scenery. All in all a great experience - one of the highlights of our Yukon holiday.

Thank you very much for choosing and trusting in us with your family. We very much appreciate the time you took to write your review. we are very fortunate to have amazing guides who work with us and share our passion for the dogs and the nature. No worries about the name spelling, If you see the spelling you would never know how to pronounce it unless you are Irish. :) It is spelled Sadhbh . Thank you again and all the best on your future trails
