I have visited Shilo many times with guests from all backgrounds Jews, Christians and others from all over the world. People are always amazed to see how the site has developed to provide a great experience for tourists. The site entrance in through a gift shop and coffee shop. There is an entrance fee. Restrooms, local expert guides. Golf chart cars are available for people who have difficulty walking up to the top of the hill where the visitors center and video presentation are located.

Having just read through the early books of the Old Testament, Shiloh was definitely a must-see spot for me. So many different stories in the Bible took place here and they are well illustrated as you tour the archaeological site. The site is pretty vast and there is not a lot of shade so be sure to bring a sun hat or umbrella and plenty of water as your guide takes you through each area. Don't miss the unique movie! This is yet another spot somewhat off the beaten path. We came later in the day so there was not a coach bus to be seen, making the tour of the site so much more enjoyable without hoards of other tourists.

This was the religious center of Israel before Jerusalem. This is the place where the Tabernacle stood for 369 years. Archaeology pinpointed the location where it stood. Archaeology and the Bible come together here. This is the place where Hannah prayed, the famous prayer that until today is a symbol of a woman praying with all her heart and the Almighty hearing her sincere prayers and blessing her with a child. And this is where the prophet Samuel, Hannah's son, served, the great prophet that have two Biblical books named after.
The place is well preserved and well marked. There is a great museum and great movie. All enable the visitor get close to the Biblical past. A great experience.

Travelling with a group of 11, this was one if my highlights of Israel. The site is large and you need your walking shoes and water bottle. It is also a working archaeological site so you may see people at work.
The AV presentation is very creative and worthwhile, as is walking onto the site where the Tabernacle once stood.
Even the gift shop was good (food drink and gifts) and several purchases were made!
SHiloh may not be on the main tourist track for Israel but I recommend visiting there.

My travel group visited Tel Shiloh in late April. I hadn't been there for three years, and was quite impressed with the improvements of presentation and number of new places and artifacts displayed. This is an area of tremendous biblical significance, for example, it's where the Mishkan -- the Tabernacle -- rested for several hundred years. We were led around by a local, knowledgeable guide who spoke fluent English. Yup, there is a gift shop. One note: TripAdvisor states Tel Shiloh is in "Ariel" and the "Palestinian Territories". Tel Shiloh adjoins the Israeli town of Shiloh. Ariel is another, much larger Israeli city. And Tel Shiloh is actually in Area C, the Israeli area on the West Bank designated by the 1993 Oslo Accords, signed by Israeli and Palestinian leaders at the White House.

This is our 4th visit to Shiloh. It gets better every time. But this time was so amazing because they opened up a brand new restaurant called Merlot. Every year we worry about what we are going to eat there as all they had to offer was a grocery store of cold food or a pizza place. But now they have a 5 star restaurant in this tiny town of Shiloh that can rival any restaurant in Jerusalem! We had the most amazing eggplant appetizer, fettuccini in pesto cream sauce, salmon salad with a mustard dressing that really blew us away and an Asian salmon dish and a greek feta shakshuka. Wow - it was all so fabulous that we ate every bit of every dish. The chef, Igal, was trained at a culinary institute in Israel and he is excellent. The server, Rebecca, was adorable and so sweet and kind and helpful. The entire experience was a joy and we cannot wait to go back and try the chocolate soufflé. We had to leave to make sure to see all of Shiloh before the sun set -but we could have stayed another hour in Merlot having desserts and coffee. We highly recommend Merlot!

Site is a must for those interested in visiting Biblical sites throughout Israel. There is a multimedia film allowing the visitor to experience the Biblical stories associated with the site. Additionally a model offers the visitor a look into what the Tabernacle would have looked like (based on the Biblical passages). The Biblical stories come alive while walking throughout the park. It's possible to arrange a local guide or visit on your own with Bible in hand (available on loan on site).

We were parents, grandparents and children. All loves it on their own level.

Going through the site of the original tabernacle (mishkan) is great whether you view it as a religious site or as an archeological piece of history.

Both the 15 minute movie about the life and times spanning the 369 year history and the 7-8 minute presentation about the actual structure are worthwhile. English versions are available.

There is plenty of walking and climbing. Wear comfortable shoes.

It’s about an hour from Jerusalem.

I have visited Tel Shilo more than once. And each time I have visited, the presentation has gotten better and better. The sight has great Biblical and Historical significance. And the movie presentation is a must see.
