According to historians, Lullingstone Roman Villa was built in 82AD, enlarged in around 150AD and used by others for more than 300 years until it was burnt down in the 5th century. Its basement and foundation walls can still be viewed at the site, which is preserved by English Heritage. The villa was uncovered in 1939 when a tree was... More

English heritage site. Good facilities and a great villa from Roman times. Parking is extra but nothing is expensive here so worth a trip.

Well documented, easy to understand the history of the villa. Children will enjoy the activity sheets, lots of things to find, lots of interesting facts about how the Romans lived. The villa is not over big but plenty of interesting facts. Worth a visit, then go in to nearby Eynsford for something to eat or just a walk around the... More

My daughter is looking at Roman history in school (KS2) and we thought it might be useful to see an example of Roman buildings. I already have English Heritage membership was free to get in and park (£2.50 currently if you're not a member) but ended up spending some money in the shop anyway on a guide book and some... More

Very interesting place, educational. Great for school trips and taking your children and Grandchildren. I visited it with my grandchildren, they loved it.

We have visited the site on a number of occasions. Members of English Heritage get both free entry and car parking at this site. The actual villa foundations are housed within a windowless steel framed building and you will need to wrap up warm if visiting during the winter. There is plenty of information about the ruins as you wander... More

We had a lovely day out here. The gin and wine samples on offer were an added bonus. Isobel, the lovely young manager, was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the Villa and went out of her way to answer any of our questions. A well presented venue, lovely gift shop and small seated area with hot drinks machine. Interactive exhibits... More

In a beautiful valley close to Eynsford village lies Lullingstone Roman Villa. English Heritage, so free entry and parking for members. Exhibition is good for general interest and children have some activities. The truth is that little is known about the history of the villa so much of what you "learn" is speculative. The exposed remains of the villa is... More

Visited on an Autumnal Sunday afternoon after visiting the nearby Eagle Heights. It's an English Heritage Site and so was immaculately presented, clean and efficient / knowledgable staff members. Very interesting set tip with interaction for children however I think it is quite expensive for what you actually get to see / experience.
