We enjoyed our visit here. Unfortunately their information in English is very minimal. It would not have been as informative if we did not have a friend with a good command of French. Doing horrible things to our neighbors in the name of religion is...More

Visited for the second time, the Musee du Desert west of Ales. It does take 1.5 hours from the Pont du Gard to the Museum. There is a lovely little snack bar just past the museum with basic foods for most times of day and...More

This museum tells something of the history of official persecution against Southern French protestants [Camisards] following the Edict of Nantes (1685). Happened upon this "refuge in the wilderness" about an hour from Nimes, during a cross country drive while in France. Beautiful grounds and excellent historical record of the history of the Huguenots. Even more moving after discovering my French Huguenot roots.

Really excellent museum - much better than the website indicates. A comprehensive history of French Hugenots and a moving tribute to a very courageous group of people. The little hamlet it is situated in is gorgeous with lots of walking trails leading from it. Well...More

We are very thankful for this wonderful place. The organizers have done a fabulous job of preserving the story of the faithful Huguenots. It is off the beaten path but well worth the visit. Our teenagers were powerfully impacted by the stories of courage, faith,...More
