We visited twice during our week in Cucugnan - once on foot and once by bike. On both occasions we enjoyed swimming in the clear water. We didn't try jumping in the pools higher up the river as we were a little nervous that we might injure ourselves and find it hard to get back to our hotel!

Lovely, spend the day, take a pic-nic, walk the village trail 2 3/4 hour circuit) admire the dragon flies, admire the views, the fish, the scenery - it has it all.
The rules are no swimming - the tourist info sites say visit the chateaux in the area then come here for a paddle in the cool water!! A little adventurous if you wish - you can try walking across natural stepping stones or jumping the narrow water ways. BE CAREFUL after heavy rain, the water levels can rise quickly. Great spot for children and grandparets alike.

We stumbled across this site after a drive down an (apparently) deserted country track amongst vines. Everyone (and their dogs) had the same idea. It was packed! We took one of the last spaces in the car park (4€ for the day). However, it is an amazing site with lots of space to loose yourself, and great swimming in the rock pools. I'd love to go back out of season when there are not so many people there.

We stop there after visiting the Cathare castle of Quéribus. It was really nice. Our girls are 11 and 13 and they had a great time in the water. The water is a bit chilly, but very clean. Also with the rapids, you are drawn in and they you have great fun. I went with my girls and loved it. You only pay for the parking (I think it was 4 Euro).

Wow, where to start. Spectacular! Difficult to find but so worth it! I think it may be one of France's best kept secrets! The water is so clear and cool, if you go you must swim! It's fresh and cooling and the waterfalls and pools are just heaven to experience. It does get busy so go early if you can, the parking is 4€ for a car and that is the only charge. You can picnic and there are trash bags so make sure you clear up after yourself to preserve this beautiful place. There is one very deep lagoon and then further back are the pools and falls and big flat rocks for sunning yourself or just resting in between splashing and swimming in the crystal blue waters. There is a lifeguard watching over the large deep lagoon, and paddle boards etc are welcome. So what are you waiting for? Pack up the kids and the dog and go, now! It will certainly make for a memorable day out and you will surely never want to leave.

This is undersold in guidebooks but maybe on purpose so they can keep it to themselves! Its a stunning spot with the river flowing down and making big pools which people were jumping into and swimming. Take a picnic and get there early!!

We went with a wheelchair bound adult. There is no handicapped parking space in their 5 euro parking lot, although French law, in keeping with general EU law, requires at least one such space in a public but fee paying parking lot. By French law, if there is no handicapped space then the fee is waived; if there is a handicapped space, the fee must be paid but there is no time limit up to 12 hours. The ticket seller, a municipal employee technically, knew nothing about this, said she was just following orders and told me to take it up with city hall. I declined to pay and park in the public but expensive lot with no provisions for handicapped parking and instead took one of the roadside spots 100 meters uphill, which added to the burden of pushing a wheelchair but was worth it, to not support a town who ignores the meagre EU laws supporting the handicapped. Everyone should be a caretaker for a day for someone who has mobility issues--there might be some understanding then. As it was, the path was just doable for a small sized wheelchair, with three or four short spaces where it was necessary to lift it across, and it was all worthwhile for someone who is crippled in a chair but swoops and soars in the beautiful, mostly accessible pools of the Verdouble. But shame on you France!

The scenery and the Gorges are beautiful and depending on your starting point can be a bit of a drag to get to. The last few miles are on a very narrow road leading to a paid car park 5€ in 2019 ! Plus a car wash due to lots of dust ! This is not so well hidden gem as the other travellers said whole of France were there. Some hair raising dives into a relatively small deep ponds but immensely fun for the daring .Go with some water shoes/wear as it is must. Walking not easy and in the water slippery. Water fresh clear and cold but manageable when sunny !
