This is the last fort of its kind and has a varied history from defence, to its attachment with the charge of the light brigade, to being the first film studio. Come and visit on our open days or events, for a guided tour, a run around or a cup of tea or cake from Food For Fort

This attraction may be of interest to war history buffs, but I suspect limited as its as much a children's playground in the summer. It does however, have some interesting wildlife with European Wall Lizards making their home around the moat walls and some excellent...More

The fort has been beautifully built with a flint facing. The volunteers who are renovating the structure are doing a wonderful job. Let your imagination fly and you can see how the fort was like when Napolean threatened our shores.

A wonderful effort is being made to restore this 19th century fort to its original. Interesting associated lecture hall and museum on site. Most public holidays there are demonstrations, in period uniform etc.
