A beautiful chateau with wonderful gardens and views. Admission included a guided tour which we were given in English with another English couple. Superb!

A lovely castle in a beautiful little town! A great castle to visit which provides a guided tour of the castle and the grounds! Possible to do some wine tasting afterwards! Lovely town to visit :)

We only had time for the wine tasting. The tour was 1hour and we didn't have time. Good value tour with guide if you go. Lovely building and gardens. We went on a wet day so didn't do the garden which was a cheaper rate.

A really picturesque château in the little village of Montreuil-Bellay. We were able to look around many rooms inside of the Château, and the views of the surrounding region from here are spectacular. The admission fee was reasonable, and included a free wine tasting session after which was really nice. You then have the opportunity, if you wish, to purchase... More

You can only visit the chateau by guided tour, which is only in french. There are not that many rooms, but they are extensively decorated. I read that they have tours in English, but apparently only on special occasions so we understood nothing the guide said. Most of the garden you can only look at from a distance, but since... More

We missed the English tour, and had to take a French one - fine for me, but not for the rest of the party. The guide was very informative, and in each room there was plenty of time to look at everything once she'd finished speaking, but she spoke for a long time which didn't go down well with the... An excellent family owned chateau small and oozing history. A real sleeping beauty atmosphere with an excellent tour and good restaurants and Tabacs and bars on the doorstep. Highly recommended as a stopover tour.

The chateau is privately owned but open for public tours, and offers an unusual chance to see some aspects of French history up-close (royal weddings, palace intrigue, conflict between Catholics and Protestants, and how a castle endured a long siege). The gardens are beautiful and the view of the river and countryside from the ramparts is magnificent.

We did the english tour which takes place every day at 2.30. found it to be interesting and informative but the main highlight was exploring the gardens and ramparts afterwards. Also get free wine tasting as part of the visit!
