We came down for a swim midday on a weekday. It's absolutely not to be missed! Walk down on the right side for a few docks built out for a wonderful swim. In the hot dusty world that can be Cambodia this was refreshing. The water was clear, the trash factor was low and the tree line majestic. If you're... More

Visited this volcanic lake as part of a day long guided tour with 2 friends. Water is refreshing, clean, beautiful, felt like I was in heaven being able to swim and float on my back gazing up at the clear sky. Just perfect temperature to refresh but not too cool, vey clear water, safe to swim. Would love to return... More

A Cambodian legend tells of a giant demon who ripped trees and dirt from the land in an attempt to find two lovers hiding from his terrible wrath. The lovers escaped, but the demon had made a hole in the ground which slowly filled with water to become the region's most popular swimming destination. Boeung Yeah Laom is a local... More

visited 2 waterfalls in Banlung before heading to Yeak Laom Lake. Crater lake that is believed to be 700, 000 years old..and over 50m deep! my sis and i geared up in life jackets and enjoyed 2 relaxing hours in the lake, taking in the forest view that surrounds the lake. There is a new ruling for visitors to dress... More

There is no doubt that this is a lovely spot. I think the Lonely Planet description overstates its 'serenity', but it is worth a visit. Its very easy to get to without a guide (bicycle or motorbike) and the little museum is also worth a visit.

Just loved it! Take a stroll and enjoy the beautiful round shaped lake. And as swimming water it is awesome! Enjoy!

Most of the pictures of this volcanic lake are taken from the air because the circular shape of the lake is clearly visible from the air. When you arrive at the lake it is not very attractive: too many people, fruit stalls etc. We had high expectations, but were disappointed.

If you like to see habits and traditions of families go on a Sunday for pic nic. Nice and peaceful trail all around the lake and swimming with nobody around !

This has to be the most peaceful place in Cambodia. A lovely walk in the shade around a big lake. Lovely place for swimming too.

Pretty lake good for a swim plenty of little shops at the car park for snacks and drinks. It costs about 2 USD for a tourist and has some lovely forest area around. It gets busy at the weekend so to avoid the crowds try going on a weekday morning if you want quiet.
