Just like the sailors of old, you’d recognize this Venetian island by the picturesque pastel-colored houses and buildings visible from its shores. Burano also is famous for its intimate lace, an art its people want to keep alive.

We so enjoyed our few hours on Burano Island a nice change from the hordes of people in Venice. It is so colourful with the contrasting painted houses and shops lining the canals and it is obvious this is very much a living island with...More

Burano is the perfect island. Hop on a vaporetto from Venice and 45 minutes later soak up the atmosphere. Picture perfect houses and shops, peaceful and full of character. Treat yourself and spend the day here.

Nice half day trip out. Here there are lots of lace shops, a few restaurants, and a vineyard. Famous for its coloured houses. Nice to soak up the sun on another island.

Burano has a different feel than Venice. It feels a little bit more quaint and has the added attraction of all of the lace work that is handmade in stores there as well as the glass that you will see handmade on the island of...More

Easily accessible from Venice by waterboat/ferry. Definitely worth a visit, the colours are magical, and make for some great photography too. Plenty of little eateries, speciality fish dishes, fab pizza and worth investigating Burano lace, masters at work :)
