Fairly aggressive trek up to the castle from the closest parking area. Some cafe and restaurant opportunities inside the grounds. Very nice vistas on all sides. Not much protection from the weather unless you're inside the restaurant. Very small as castles go, primarily a ruin.

This is a well-preserved castle with some recent historical significance. It provides stunning views of the Neckar Valley and on sunny days you can watch the hang-gliders soar from the nearby cliffs. There's a very good restaurant within the castle, as well as a little Imbiss stand if you're just looking for a snack. Bring a picnic basket and spend... More

The castle ruins have been partially restored. The restaurant has good food. They also have occasional medieval dinners with entertainment.

Hohenneuffen offers restaurant and refreshment facilities in a restored castle ruin approximately 45 minutes from Stuttgart Airport. Have had dinner and attended a wedding reception there. Excellent service and high culinary standard, particularly local Swabian specialities and local wines . Access can be a challenge as this involves a 15 minute steep walk up from the woodland car park below... More

It's about 25 minutes, all uphill but worth the effort for the spectacular views over Nagold. The path is well marked and easy underfoot but the slope may be a challenge - just take your time. There was a pre-school grip ahead of us, some pushing prams and they were doing OK. Don't forget to take your camera!

You approach the castle from the woods on one side and walk roe about 20 mins from the car park - quite a bit of it uphill (hope you're reasonably fit). That means you won't get a sense of how the castle perches on the hill overlooking a large valley. The view will take your breath away - from vinyards... More

We hiked from below the ruins in a wide circle that included the castle as a mid-way point. It was a Sunday, there were falcon shows at the castle for a fee. There were two beer gardens and a sit down restaurant. The food at the beer gardens was simple and reasonably priced. The sit down restaurant was much more... More

Sitting atop mount... something, this marvellous example of medieval workmanship can be seen from miles around. Sited about 40-mins drive from Stuttgart, you can reach about 400 metres from the entrance. Even then, it is a steep climb to the actual entrance. However, once you are there it is a massively impressive place to visit, with spectacular views of the... More

This imposing structure can be seen up on the mountain top from all over the region, but it's not hard to get there and the walk up to it along a wide paved path through the woods is not long though steel at times. The ruin itself is fun to run around, the views are incredible, the history is interesting... More

This is a nice walk for all ages and a wonderful place to take in the scenery while enjoying a cold beer, wurst and pommes with ketchup and mayo. The paragliders and gliders dropped by a plane were numerous. We also enjoyed the falconry show that was a special event of the day.
