Overview
More
The crowd of almost thousand figures that make up the Silent People suddenly emerges before the passing motorist like some great stroke of magic. In the morning with light behind them, this motionless army appears morose, even menacing. However, as the day progresses their countenance brightens up and with the setting of the sun they present a distincly jolly and colourful picture. When the wind blows their straw hair and clothes begin to flap rhythmically, it is as if they had suddenly sprung into life.

This art work came as a surprise for me when we drove by but we stopped anyway. Lots of scarecrow standing on a field dressed in different ways. I think the wow! part was the number of the scarecrows. I really don't know what more...More

This is an absolute must in Finnish contemporary art! Take a walk among the spooky and funny "scarecrows". There are "thousands" of them; find your own favorite. Easy to access by car on your way to Lapland or from Lapland.

Creepy but cool. Good photo op and a great cafe! Definitely worth stopping on your way to north or south!

Very cool piece of art here in the middle of nowhere...a bit scary though. Thanks to the artist for this! Loved it!

This is an interesting tourist attraction. There are quite literally 100s of these silent people in a field. Apparently they have their clothes changed regularly and if you like the look of something as long as you replace it with something else you can take...More
