We enjoyed our visit to The Book Barn. The non-fiction books are wonderfully sorted, making it simple to find a particular genre, and every genre seems to be represented. We also liked the wood carvings and crafts in the front section, and want to thank the owner for the new washroom he built this summer! One minor complaint: the prices seem a bit high for second-hand books.

I've been here several times over the past few years. The collections are becoming dated and picked of more recent, notable and good titles (in multiple genres). The owner and a couple of people inside the barn talking with him were not wearing masks either - which is discouraging and quite disappointing.

Josh,
We purchase between 500-700 boxes of books a year.
Our stock is cycled through over an 18 month period, with unsold material being weeded out for donation.
I like to think that over the last 20 years we have satisfied the grumpiest of bibliophiles.
Wearing a mask is our policy as required by provincial legislation, yet not everyone can wear a mask.
Let’s be kind to one another!

What a great find! We were on our way to Lucknow when we stumbled upon this hidden gem.
Very well organized and reasonable prices.
Very friendly folk that run the place as well!
The handcrafted works in the front of the barn is very unique and reasonably priced as well.
So happy to have found this spot.
Definitely worth the drive out there and we will definitely be going back again!

Can you imagine driving down beautiful country side roads, turning towards fields and sideroads only to find a huge warehouse with I dare say thousands of books? We left with a book filled box and a very happy heart. The kids were thrilled as well and were happy to explore this huge space. Definitely any book lover's dream!!!

My husband and I have stopped here on our way through or leaving the area. It is a well managed place to shop for used books. The gentleman also has welding art and birdhouses for amazing prices. It is definitely worth the "Stop along the way" !

We stopped off here on our way to our daughters for the first time, last week. It won’t be the last. We like to read, are in our 60’s and read both electronic and paper. This place is awesome! You can easily spend a couple of hours here. Brian, the owner is so decent and accommodating, you couldn’t ask for better. Take your time, relax and enjoy!
Definitely recommend.

My friend had driven by this location last year, intrigued but with no time to stop. We planned a road trip with The Book Barn as a stop and what a great find it was! The location at the end of a country road near Lucknow and in a barn yard adds to the adventure. Upon entering the barn we were very surprised at the huge, well-organized selection of used books. I found it very easy to find categories and authors that interest me. I plan to make an appointment to bring my used books here. The owner's father mentioned that the condition and market for the types of books they take is important. You can choose cash or store credit. Note that the barn temperature is cool but not damp so dress accordingly as you will want to stay awhile!

Saw the sign on my way towards Lucknow and I couldn't resist turning around to stop in, and I am so glad that I did. Spent the better part of two hours wandering the shelves and chatting with Tim. Everything is well organized, easy to find and the prices are reasonable. Would recommend for any lover of books. 5 Stars!

Thanks Mack. Not quite the Highway Bookshop but maybe one day will live up to the same legend it had.
