Visited on early Sunday morning (9.30am) - was 2nd visitor.. :) the next bus of tourists arrived 1h later.. but was not fully opened at this time - maybe off-season. No guides on site. Firstly try to get there early. Parking becomes very difficult later and you can meet queues to get in from 3 hundred metres down the road. Very interesting tour of the complex with interactive things en-route. Try the shooting range. Buy a guide book. You will be fascinated by the size of the bunkers. Well worth a trip. Reccommended.

The most used "Haupt-Quartier" of Hitler hidden somewhere in the forest, intruding, solely and shivering. Now it is a huge complex of semi-destroyed, huge, concrete bunkers in every shape and form. Here also took place the famous but not satisfactory attack on Hitler from Stauffenberg.

This is the site where the assassination attempt on Hitler was made by Von Steuffenberg as per the film Valkyrie. Getting a guide book is a must as without one, it's just a pile of damaged buildings. It has a sort of eerie feeling about it too.

Made a point of visiting here last week whilst touring Mazury, Poland. Being a history buff, it has been on my bucket list!!! Fist off, the scale of the place (2 hour walking tour), has to be seen to be believed. As the centre of the WW2 Eastern Front HQ for the German military & administration machine, naturally, you can... More

If you go there you should definitively not have great expectations, or really like seeing blocks of concrete among trees. Because if you do not pay for a guide that is all you will see. There is absolutely no explanation regarding the place, its organization, etc. There is only one information table related to von Stauffenberg bomb attack, which is... More

Because otherwise the Wolf's Lair is basically a demolition site with little context. There are no explanatory signs or billboards around the ruins, so you are just looking at torn concrete and derelict buildings - unless you go with a guide, know the history of the complex (luckily I do), or get one of the guidebooks from the stalls or... Parking directions and tickets sales went smoothly. Then we were a little bit lost. Waited at designated area to find English-speaking guide and this was mission impossible. None of the guides that passed buy spoke English. Nobody (among Polish or Russian speaking guides) was really kind or helpful. There was no schedule, everything was disorganized. It was quite busy early... More
