Breathtaking views coupled with a glimpse into ancient Mexican culture. Highly recommend visiting with a guide who can explain the nuances between various municipalities and of course, the fascinating game of ulama.

Such gorgeous views. The ruins are unique and offer anot interesting insight into this area's past. Mind the signs...some structures are not stable. The welcome center is gorgeous! It has a beautiful view.

If you spend too much time in Guadalajara and don't know what else to do ! You should go to the guachimontones. They are the only rounded pyramids known. It's only half an hour from gdl and the town is lovely

The attractive part is that they are supposed to be the only round pyramids in Mexico. The place is small and in less than an hour you can do the tour. I recommend stopping on the way back at the restaurants next to the lake. Great fresh fish at cheap prices. Less than an hour drive from Guadalajara.

I never heard of the round pyramids on the other side of the Tequila volcano until my wife and I went to Tequila. So we planned another day trip to Guachimontones to check it out. Only 15 pesos for students and teachers (so bring those ID's) and 30 for the regular entrance. After we paid and parked, we took the... More

Viewing the Guachimontones was a new experience. The historical center/museum is small but well-staffed, and they provide information in Spanish, English, and French. The site requires some walking, so recommend appropriate footwear/clothing. The views from the top are stunning. Truly an informative visit.

From Guadalajara it takes about 1.5hrs to arrive by car or a tour, but is well worth if you like to see these round pyramids.

This place is very interesting discovered not along ago and they still discovering more ruins, round pyramids !!! How cool is that I think in couple more years it will be like chichen itza, even have the patio where they play ball, we saw signs like they are still doing new excavations, and for what we explore we can tell...
