Unlike many castles I've been to you're able to actually explore the castle on your own. A big plus in my opinion - the cost is 17 Euros a person, but you get to walk around the entire area surrounding the castle as well as the rooms, towers and small dungeon/jail. There's lots for things to learn about the castle... More

Such a well preserved castle. The city is so calm and not full of visitors. Be prepare to walk a lot but you´ll be amazed of the beautiful city. There´s a bakery close the castle where you can buy delicious desserts such as macaroons, brownies, bread, etc., and enjoy it with a good cup of coffee. The Castle on the... More

Attractive modern museum especially in combination with a visit to Muiden and Pampus. A must have (done).

If you're close to this place and have some time to kill, then you just might visit this castle. Otherwise, it's definitely not recommended. The castle itself from the outside is nice, but from the inside really nothing special (five rooms with some furniture plus prince and guard chambers). There are many kids attractions so I guess it's a bit... More

The castle is very easy to reach by car. Outside the garden is a must to see. The inside visit is very interesting. Good place for a family visit. Not too expensive. Not wheelchair accesible inside but garden are.

If you plan to visit by car, park in the car park straight off the A1 as it's free, and then take the scenic pedestrian walk which is signposted across the road and takes you through the pretty village to the castle. It's takes around 10-15 minutes to stroll. The castle itself was relatively expensive for what amounted to a... More

Did you know that dutch used land flooding as a defense strategy? Or that people used to put spikes in the ceiling to catch witches? I didn't, and this is just some of the fun things I learned there. Almost all the castle's chambers all accessible, the guide translated and interacted in English with us. He was also very nice... More

We took a tour to Giethoorn. At the end of the day, our guide says you wanna see a castle? Of course! So she stopped at Mukden. It was late and the castle was getting ready to close, but we were able to get close enough to get some great shots. We would have gone in if it was open.

I took the ferry to the castle and I think it was great way to go visit it. The ferry owner is VERY friendly and was able to chat with me. As a fellow scuba diver it was interesting to know more about diving possibilities in Netherlands. The time you get at the castle is enough to take a tour... More

The surrounding town is absolutely charming. Definitely worth the drive to get out here. Beautiful water side restaurants and small shops that will leave you wanting to move here!
