The church is located at the city center, across the city plaza. For those interested in antique churches, this church will not disappoint. For those interested in history, the church was used by the Japanese during WWII as an artillery emplacement to bombard the Filipino & American troops holed up in Mt. Samat, now the site of the Shrine of... More

Located at the heart of balanga, this church was renovated a couple of years back (when Bishop Socrates was still assigned in balanga). The church is spacious, also has a big parking.

My better half is from Bataan & this is the church where we got married way back 1989 by the then Bishop Celso N. Guevarra. This is the first time that we have visited St. Joseph Cathedral by night since it is the holidays when we went there. The lighting is dramatic in different perspectives which always picture perfect. It... More

The church is nicely located with the plaza in front of it, and The Plaza Hotel just across it. It's also well lit at night and is one of those old churches that gives you not just the religious aspect of it but one of history as well.

Great Architecture. That's it. The church is in front of our hotel, we visited during the day around 3pm...it was closed :( We didn't get to see the inside of the church.

It doesn't feel suffocating even if it's crowded. Nice architectural design. They were able to maintain it. They have industrial fans for the church goers but you still need to brong your own fan in case it gets too crowded. 1st Church mass starts at 5am and an interval of 30 mins between masses. Last mass in the morning is... More

We attended a morning Mass coming from a trip from Manila. It's a small cathedral, not as big as the Manila Cathedral but it has the look and feel of old Spanish churches. It is right across the town plaza and the commercial complex.

The St. Joseph's Cathedral of Balanga is located in the central part of the city where I stayed. The cathedral was used as an artillery emplacement to bombard Mt. Samat during the Japanese invasion, where the Filipino-American troops made their last stand. Underneath the bell tower also lies the tomb of the 1st Bishop Ceslso Guevarra. ‪
