A nice and safe place to discover

Due to travel guides recommendations many international tourists avoid staying in Lago Agrio but if you have a few hours or half a day in Lago Agrio and you don't know what to do - this is the best place you can go to and it proofs that not everything in Lago Agrio is ugly, unsafe and bad. Just ask a taxi driver to take you to Parque Perla. There you can find a tower with a nice view over the lagoon in its center and a lot of information about the region, the people and the animals. You can also walk through two different routes and discover typical plants and trees of the rainforest. The boats you can hire a bit old but maybe because of that it was even more fun to discover the lagoon by boat. There is also an option to do a short canopy. As it is an official park it is well protected, there are no thieves and you have to register when you arrive. Even as a woman you can walk around by yourself. The more Spanish you speak the easier it will be to get there like always in less touristic areas in South America. I don't remember the entrance fee but it was only a few dollars and taxi might cost you 3-4 $ to get there + 3/4 $ way back to the center.
