My daughter and son rented boards from Simon while at Sandy Beach. We had no advance booking just saw the truck and trailer parked at the beach. We found Simon extremely accommodating given we had not made a previous booking. My son and daughter had a great time surfing. We highly recommend the Tutukaka Surf Experience to everyone. We were... Great for beginner surfers. Whether you've surfed before or not, they'll have you standing on the surfboard in no time! Highly recommend.

Simon took two of us surfing at Sandy bay and we had a brilliant time! We had no experience and were soon standing up with his help. He seems to know everyone in the water and was very knowledgeable about the sport and the local scene, which was great to hear about. The boards and wetsuits that we hired were... More

Me and my partner had a group surf lesson with Hanna and Jamal and loved every second of it :) They went through safety and technique first, which I thought excellent. As well as going through with each person the best way to push yourself up on the board, they took the time with every person in the group separately... More

I took my 7 & 9 year old for their (and my) first surf lesson. Simon and William were excellent. William delivered an excellent lesson covering water safety and surf tips and techniques. We had an amazing time and all managed to stand by the end. Highly recommended. You have created some surfing converts!!

Everything was perfect. We could arrange a 2-hours surf lesson very spontaneously and uncomplicated a day before just for my friend and me. Simon stayed for almost three hours eventually. Sandy Bay is a perfect place for beginners and the surf lessons were great! Felt safe and professionally instructed at all times. If I ever come to NZ again, I'll... More

These holidays my two girls and I decided to do surf school. Simon, Shane and the guys were awesome! They gave us all, really clear run downs on surf safety and rips before entering the water. Parts of the board were discussed and they then modelled techniques on the boards from paddling, lying in lizard position through to popping up. Guys... More

Simon is a fantastic teacher! I took a lesson 7 years ago in Sydney that I thought was great at the time, but this surpassed it. (From a landlocked US state, so not much surfing opportunities) His technique for teaching the physical aspects of getting yourself standing on the darn thing work very well. Learning about reading the surf and... More

My adult son & I took a surf lesson from Simon and each of us had an excellent experience. Simon is fun & so down to earth; he makes you feel welcome & very comfortable in the surf & on the board. Simon is a terrific, patient instructor. If we ever get back that way, this will be a definite... More
