This is truly an amazing venue for bird watchers & photographers. An abundance of wildlife can be found within this beautiful marsh area which is home to Reed Warblers, Marsh Harrier, Kestrel, Kingfisher and plenty more. Also found a grass snake along with Marsh frogs. On a nice day you could easily spend 3 -4 hours walking around this lovely... More

It's the sort of place you will probably not read much about in a tourist guide, but if you're staying nearby (like we did in Ramsgate) I absolutlely recommand to do the circular walk through this wonderful nature reserve. The site is beautiful, even in winter! The landscape, the small lakes, the Great Stour river, the birds, the calm: all... More

I had not been here for nearly 20 years, however I was not disappointed still a wealth of bird life to see, none of which was too taxing to identify. We only did part of the walk up to the Tower Hide where we spent around an hour watching the diverse bird life out on the lake. Spoke with a... More

Very close to Canterbury but seems to be in the middle of nowhere, Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve is well worth a visit. Free car park and loos at Stodmarsh just a few hundred yards from a great pub the Red Lion. Walking is flat and easy. Well way marked and a number of brisk hides to use. Even if you... More

Tranquil place, just the sound of crickets and the odd moorhen as well as an assortment of dragonflies and butterflies.

Well kept and signposted reserve, surprisingly large. We saw a marsh harrier and an egret among the range of wildlife, especially birds. Nice variety of habitats from woods to riverbanks to open marshland and reedbeds, well marked paths, lots of hides and everything very accessible.

A wonderful stroll to see Marsh Harriers and Cetti's Warblers followed by the best lunch in Kent at the Red Lion. Lovely Sandwich Terns too!

You can take it in your stride or you can march along like a trooper, it's a 3 mile trail. Sit and relax, experience the views and enjoy the space around you. Ensure you have a camera. There's so much to see, amazing electric blue dragonflies, and hear. Listen to the birds hiding the trees. Have a go at identifying... More

Excellent viewing opportunities for various bird species. We were fortunate enough to see a female Hen Harrier in April. Some good hides for a rest during the lovely walk to Grove Ferry. Lots of Cettis Warblers to be heard ( and sometimes seen ) We didn't see a Bittern, but heard the ' boom ' in the distance. A great... More
