This is a volunteer run small railway that only runs mainly only on a Saturday (and occasionally other days) for most of the tourist season. The train line is a former mine train line and the part that would have run before going underground has been reopened. The route does include a tunnel which I thought gave a small taste... More

Thanks for your review, we pride ourselves on our friendliness and some of us could talk about the railway for hours! We hope to feature in a national tv programme soon so keep an eye out for us. If things go to plan we should be able to accept go cards next year. More

We went here while staying with relatives and it was the perfect trip for while they were at work. We also had a great time on some of the amazing historic trams!

This little railway is a delight - not my first time and worth coming back for. You get a real feel of what the mine tyrains must have been like. The staff are friendly - do get them to tell you about the history. While you are here it is worth looking at the washing floors just below the station.

As a rail enthusiast this has to be high on my list of visits. The steam engines are so small and take you through the islands longest tunnel (the only??) and on for a short ride to near the base of the Laxey wheel. Great history - stay for a while and leaarn all about the mining industry. A great... More

Just a 10 minute trundle but well worth the £2 return fare Pulled by either steam locomotive Ant or Bee, you climb into a diminutive carriage in front of the engine. It is possible to transfer into the carriage from a wheelchair / scooter from the start point, but I don't think you could get in whilst in a chair.... More

Run by volunteers, this was a great little weekend activity, which took around 90 minutes including going down the steps to look at the ruined buildings. When you read all the boards and look at the remaining structures before going on the train, you have a greater understanding of how the whole site worked and appreciate the train ride even... More
