About
Here in Walsingham we want to celebrate everything that is great about Norfolk food. Locally sourced, ingredients to cook with, or dishes we've prepared in our kitchens ready for your plate. Our vision is to connect our great local producers directly with customers and fill our shops with the best of fresh local Norfolk produce. We are in the heart of rural North Norfolk surrounded by farmland, with pretty much everything available on the doorstep. We know our customers want to know where their food comes from, and to buy the best of local produce at a good price. As farmers we would love our customers to understand more about how food is produced locally and how the countryside is shaped by food production.

Stopped for a coffee while waiting for the train back to Wells. My daughter in law bought a chocolate cake for £2.99 to share with her family. The cake was so dry and bland, it just crumbled and fell apart. Sadly once the cake was finished we noticed it was out of date. My daughter in law told a staff member who said it’s fine, we can sell them for 3 months after the best before date.
She then got the manager, who gave my daughter in law a full refund and a packet of biscuits.
Maybe better customer service would be a good idea, but we’ll done manager. Thanks

Every time I go to this farm shop it gets more expensive. Seriously do the owners not live on planet earth.
A packet of cheese crackers £5.85, what are they made of, mermaids vertues
Meat omg crazy prices.

Now reading this you may think this guy is just used to shopping at Morrison's. but no
I shop at a farm shop rubber stamped by Jimmy from Jamie and Jimmy.
Also a farm shop in cambridge that is rather expensive with its beef dry aged cabinet. But Walsingham takes the prize out of ripping clients off with its prices.. come on get a life.

Went to this farm shop as I was told it stocked the tea I wanted. What a surprise.
Great variety of goods and excellent deli and butchery sections. Went for some tea went home with far more!

I recently bought 3 bottles of Adnams 'Copper House' gin at £39.99 per bottle, only to find that Adnams themselves, and just about all other comparable local retailers, were selling exactly the same gin at just £26.99 (and to be fair to Walsingham Farm Shop, I've not compared with supermarkets who may sell for even less).

Also to be fair, I would have been been happy to pay a small amount more from a local shop, but my issue is not almost 50%) more! When contacted, Adnams themselves expressed surprise that their gin was being sold at so much above their recommend price.

When I raised this matter with the manager she just kept repeating the same mantra; that she was free to sell Adnams gin for whatever price she likes (quite true) and that her cost is clearly displayed (which it was). And that was that.

The managers repeated uncompromising response suggested that she was oblivious to the likewise freedom of disgruntled customers to express their views about her apparent excessive markup, and the deduction which could, rightly or wrongly, be inferred that such an excessive markup may have been applied to other branded products in her store. Also, such a markup does not sit comfortably with the projected earthy 'farm-shop' image of supposedly offering value for money.

Credit where due, the manager did refund my purchase, but still regrettably still an all-round poor experience, the 'tipping point' for submitting this review being the manager's rather rigid and unnecessarily confrontational response.

We made a detour to visit this farm shop and was impressed by the range on offer. We chose some local cheeses and then tried to look at the jams and chutneys but couldn't get near as two members of staff were too busy doing a stock check and blocked the aisle stopping us from viewing the ranges.
Deciding to just buy the cheese we stood at one of the two unmanned tills and waited and waited. The two men were still concentrating on their stock check, another member of staff was busy sweeping and another gentleman was in the office.
We put the cheese on the counter and left.
We got the same cheeses in Wells a lot cheaper.
Won't be returning.

Given that the UK had been shopping for England and stripping the shelves of anything and everything for several days now, to find this farm shop was incredible. Our only regret was not buying a couple of chickens, as when we got home, there were none to be found. All the produce was fresh and not too expensive.

Thank you so much! We have been so busy lately that we just did not have time to check on tripadvisor reviews - what a lovely treat to find this one. We have managed to keep the shop more or less stocked throughout the pandemic; flour yeast and all! It has been quite an effort but has given us a lot of satisfaction to achieve. Best wishes and hope to see you again soon. Elizabeth, Walsingham Farm Shop owner/partner

All we wanted was some Binham Blue cheese. So logically we went to Binham. But there was nowhere there to buy it (even at the Abbey Dairy).
So we looked around the Abbey, (worthwhile), and in the car park, as we were leaving, we met a local guy and asked him about the cheese. It's made up the road in Wighton he said. But you can buy it in Walsingham. While you're in Binham though the dairy sells proper, raw milk - milk like it used to taste he said. So we bought a litre - you buy a bottle or take your own container (pre-sterlised obviously), bang in your money, and the machine does the rest. And it really was superb! So, in you're in Binham, don't forget your milk!
So we went to Walsingham to get the Wighton-made Binham Blue. The Farm Shop is well-signed and well-supplied. Ask the very pleasant girl (Mollie) at the till and she'll tell you what's locally-sourced, home-made etc. And there is a lot!
We got the Binham Blue of course, plus Gurney Gold, Norfolk Dapple,Walsingham and Mardler cheeses. And Walsingham Chutneys, Strawberry jam, blackberry & apple jam, sloe gin, smoked salmon, flapjacks, sausage rolls, sourdough bread, daffs, eggs and a big fat chicken.
The whole lot cost about £65 making our Binham Blue the most expensive cheese we've ever had. But money well spent!
Apart from the chutneys and jams we've eaten it all now. But we thoroughly enjoyed the lot - the chicken especially so.
Apparently Walsingham also has an abbey or shrine or something; when we go again we'll try to fit that in too.

How lovely that you tracked the Binham Blue down to our Walsingham shop. It is one of our most popular local cheeses from our nearest cheese maker Mrs Temple - the Temples farm at Wighton and Mrs Temple named her cheeses after nearby villages. Great you think you will visit again! Walsingham Abbey is indeed well worth a visit - beautiful ancient ruins with woodland gardens surrounding it, the site of the medieval shrine the Priory of our Lady of Walsingham.

Visited 2nd Jan in morning, quiet and Lady appeared more interested in her stock taking the next day. Must point out other staff members helpful and accommodating. Attitude of one lady spoilt our shopping experience! Wished I had left my shopping behind and not bothered spending £36! Perhaps she had worries or didn't like 'holiday tourists' - I'm not sure!
However, credit must be given to the produce - fillet steak and braised steak was beautiful!
Would I visit shop again? Disappointed and not made to feel welcome - not sure I would return 😥

Dear Wendy, Firstly thank you for taking the time to review our farm shop. I am disappointed to see we clearly failed in our customer service on this occasion and it is something I will look into straight away. I would like to also apologise on behalf of our member of staff that served you spoilt your shopping experience as it is something we all try our best to make an enjoyable, informative and welcoming one. Our business depends on holiday makers for large periods of the year so we certainly try our best to welcome and help anyone new to the area and our shop. However I'm really glad you enjoyed the products you purchased especially our Walsingham beef which we really pride ourselves on. Lastly, I really do hope you return and give us another opportunity to 'get it right'! If you feel you would like to discuss anything further or get in contact directly please do so. My email is sam.bagge@walsingham.co Apologies once again. Sam Bagge, General Manager
