every heritage day..my husband who was Mayor of the Dolphin coast Municipality..is invites to the Shaka memorial park to celebrate with the Zulu King..Chiefs and officials n even Presidents..it is a big day in our town and we look forward to it every year..and the facility is well positioned in the town

The area and memorial marks the resting place of the Zulu King Shaka near the site where he was assassinated by his half-brothers Dingane and Mhlangana while sitting on a rock near the barracks at his capital Dukuza. It was the ending to the Napoleon of Africa.
However today, the area is very run down, trash all over the streets. I even saw two people fighting, so I took a quick look, then went on my way. There is also no parking in the area except for street parking. For historical purposes it is worth seeing, but South Africa needs to fix up the area a little bit.

The Shaka Memorial is a provincial heritage site in Stanger in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. It marks the resting place of the Zulu King Shaka near the site where he was assassinated by his half-brothers Dingane and Mhlangana while sitting on a rock near the barracks at his capital Dukuza. Grate site. Grate opportunity to learn about Zulu history, culture and King Shaka.
The dance performance was equally great.
Visitors should make an appointment to see the memorial.

The Mall is well laid out. Lots of parking. Not fully completed with road works. Has an excellent mix of shops and restaurants. Looking forward to its completion.

King Shaka's memorial is definitely worth a visit. At first glance it might not seem like a great place, structure is wore down and the location is easily missed. However once you go inside, a lovely tour guide shows you around and gives you an outstanding presentation on zulu history and life. Our guide was unbelievably great, honest and critical, and really funny. We loved this place, and would really recommend travellers to stop by.

My family and I are doing the Zululand history/cultural tour. Our journey started with the King Shaka heritage route in KwaDukuza.
Amongst places we visited was the King Shaka Visitor's Centre, and it was my best experience of the day!
Loved the mini movie, shed a lot of background history. The guide was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions.
Seeing where Shaka died and his final resting place was emotional for me.
But great experience for anyone interested in the Zulu culture

After a long drive out of durban, it was disappointing to see such a poor state for a memorial of such a great. The drive is not worth the effort. The surroundings to the place are unclean and almost feel unsafe, let alone availability of parking. Quite disappointed in KZN government.

Great site. Afforded me the opportunity to catch up on Zulu history, culture and King Shaka.
Some great views of hills and vegetation. The dance performance was equally great.
Visitors should come prepared for the cold. The weather is quite trickish.

The Memorial is run-down with inadequate safety and security offered. The are around the memorial was unkempt with rubble laying around. Not recommended as worth a visit unless you are in the area in any event and just drive past.
