We visited on our way back from isle of Wight home. Takes about an hour good audio guide lots of steps for the less able. Wonderful views from the top.

Interesting to see how the sight has been used over the years. It's free to wander within the Roman fort walls and worth the entrance fee to see the tower and other buildings.

I have just double checked and for adults it is £5.80 and children under 15 £3.40. It is open from 10am to 6pm

The bus stops at the town and it is only a short walk south bound to the castle. Alternately the train station is only 5 minutes walk from the town centre and there is also a taxi firm there

Yes there is a rail station at Portchester. I do not understand the previous remark as the Castle is not on an Island. You could get a taxi to the Castle but it is not far to walk depending on your capability and that of the... More
