My girlfriend and I took a tour that followed the Mendoza River to Cacheuta where we visited the old colgante bridge that residents use to cross the river and go from one side to the other of the city that is located on both sides of the river.
This beautiful river is very interesting with its bed of rocks and which from time to time after the opening of the Potrerillos floodgates fills with water from melting glaciers.
It made for beautiful photos and walking across the bridge is really cool. I recommend...

The Mendoza River is a melting river, born in Aconcagua, being one of the most important water sources. We were able to see it while we visited different points. The spectacular view that Cacheuta offers with its waters that accompany the landscape or in the Picheuta area that, together with the old bridge, gives it an ideal setting. There are different activities that can be done, but we went out of season.

Take the Santiago road through the mountains and prepare to be amazed. Fantastic rock formations, amazing colours and views. We went on a bright cloudless day and it was truly memorable.

This side of Argentina is in high elevation. Chilean border is nearby. You might get snow this time of year but the river is dry.

Following the Mendoza river along the highway from Aconcagua's heights to the channels of the city is fascinating given that the melting snows are Mendoza's only source of water.

We drove route 7 from Mendoza to the Chilean border and the Mendoza river is on your side much of the way. There is a water park shortly out of town that is only 50 pesos to spend the day, some hot springs, a lake and more rugged terrain the further up the valley you go. This was less of a destination on my travels but more of a casual observation much of my day.

We were lucky enough to see the gate had been opened and the river was flowing. There is something special about seeing the river flowing and hearing the sounds at the bottom of the Andes
