We booked with Roraima Airways for a visit to the Falls and it was incredibly stressful dealing with them. The itinerary given to me stated that we would depart Ogle Airport at 9:30am and return at 2pm. The time schedule was the basis upon which I chose to book with them as I had to check out of my hotel at 2:30pm and fly home out of GEO(75 mins away) at 8pm.

On the morning of our flight, around 30 persons were waiting and we realised that we each were given different itineraries for the same tour. Some itineraries showed a return time of 1:30pm, 3:30pm and even 4pm for the same tour. At the scheduled departure time of 9:30pm, I realised that we hadn't yet boarded. Upon making enquiries, I was informed that there was bad weather at Kaiteur so there would be a delay. I understood that this was not their fault but explained my time constraints.

The 30 of us were divided between 3 planes. Upon hearing my complaint, one pilot indicated that hevwas ready to fly and at 9:40, the first plane left. At 10am, I again enquired as to my time of departure. The second plane then left. At 10:30, my plane was not yet ready so I explained that I needed a refund since I would miss my international flight. The employees refused and the owner indicated that she did not want to listen to anything I had to say. No where on their contract stated that the itinerary was subject to change or that these changes bar ma from obtaining a refund.

It is a very pricey tour and they were highly unprofessional. I will never recommend this company.

During our trip to Guyana, we contacted several tour operators to visit Kaieteur and Orinduik Falls. However, we were disappointed to find out that all of them were offering tours on the weekend, except for Frank Singh of Rainforest Tours. Mr. Singh informed us that there were already four seats sold and our party of five would allow the trip to proceed. He quoted us $300 USD and we paid in cash after discussing the itinerary to visit both falls. Although the credit card machine was offline due to phone line issues, we received a receipt specifying the payment and the reason.

However, when we arrived at the Ogle airport, we learned that the plane only had enough fuel for the Kaieteur Falls trip and that the flight plan was set accordingly. This was contrary to what we had discussed with Mr. Singh. Although we were willing to pay more to include Orinduik Falls, he denied agreeing to book us on the additional tour. We were disappointed, but we boarded the plane and enjoyed an amazing view of the Kaieteur Falls.

Despite this negative experience with Rainforest Tours, we must acknowledge the beauty of Kaieteur Falls (5 stars) and the opportunity to reconnect with our homeland and nature. Our guides were excellent and helped us appreciate the Amerindian people and the Guyana interior region. While we may not revisit this part of the country soon, we hope that other tour operators will provide more transparent and honest services to visitors.

Our family chartered an aircraft and flew from Cheddi Jagan International Airport to the Kaieteur National Park.
It took us about 45 minutes to get there. The flight was wonderful, it allowed us to appreciate the vastness of our untouched forest and mountain ranges.
A tour guide took us on a guided tour to the majestic Kaieteur Falls. Its a sight to behold, the majestic Kaieteur in all its Glory.
We were fortunate to view it from four vantage points.
It is so amazing, words cannot describe the feeling you experience standing there, awesome and yet so chilling.
From there we went to the Orinduik Falls.

I’d wondered if the flight would be worth the cost. The answer is a big “yes!”. The falls are highly undeveloped which is part of the charm. It was about an hour’s flight from Georgetown and the pilot does a fly by so each side of the small plane (about a 1 4 seater) get a good view of the falls. Heather (our tour guide) was great - engaging and well informed. I visited just after some heavy rains so there was a veritable mountain of water flowing over the falls. However, at 5 times the height of Niagara, I’d suggest it would be spectacular irrespective of water volume. The lookout spots are somewhat airy (i.e., no safety rails anywhere). If you go with a tour group (not sure how else you can go), they keep you together, so even though there are other paths, you don’t get to do much hiking. It was a fairly leisurely and casual walk out from the airstrip to the falls (a few hundred meters). You go to about 2 viewing spots and then back to the shed at the landing strip for a light lunch. I’m glad I went.

Yes, it’s not the cheapest day trip you will ever do (assuming you don’t hike in). But The waterfall is spectacular and not over touristed. That said, you will be touring in a group, there are likely to be other groups at the same time as you, so it’s just you and Mother Nature. But it’s very worth it, and the flight to and fro is also super cool.

Firstly, this being by first trip to kaieteur and in a small plane was scary and fun at the same time. The tour guide was witty and knowledgeable about the park and the fall. The only problem was that due to the inclined weather the flight was delayed and we didn't get to spend enough time enjoying the grandeur of kaieteur and all it's splendour, however overall we had fun and it was great.

There are no roads to this waterfall, but it is absolutely worth visiting if you can get there. We chartered our own flight which was nice as we had some good flexibility. Though we had to go through normal level airport security which was odd since it was just two of us and the pilot on the plane...
Anyway, there is a nice little landing strip near the falls and one of the guides who lives there a few months at a time will walk you around to the different vantage points of the falls so you can get some good pictures. They also point out some interesting geological and flora information.
Our pilot buzzed the falls on the way out and we had a nice, if bumpy, ride back to Georgetown.
Bring earplugs if you have sensitive ears, most of these smaller planes are quite loud and I was very happy to save my hearing.

Kaieteur Falls is definitely the gem of Guyana and is a must-see. The falls are quite remote and requires taking a small plane to a remote landing strip. The plane ride takes about one hour, and upon landing, the falls are a short hike to different viewpoints. This was definitely the highlight of my trip to Guyana.

Unless there are enough people to fly to the falls, the trip won't happen. There were only five of us so no flight occurred. Unless you are traveling in a large group there is no guarantee. And there isn't much other reason to visit Guiana. I recommend going to Iguazu in Brazil and Argentina instead. Bigger better and you aren't at the mercy of the tour company

This trip is a must when visiting Guyana. The flight over the Amazon rain forest is amazing, and the falls are spectacular. Some patience is required to check in for the flight. Our names were not on the manifest when we arrived, which happens frequently, but this mistake was corrected quickly. You also may have to be flexible timewise; your flight may depart late. But the experience is well worth it.
