If for some bizarre reason you can only visit one place in the Galápagos, go to Playa Puerto Villamil. It's teaming with life—scads of black marine iguanas, Sally Lightfoot crabs, blue footed boobies diving into the waters, brown pelicans perching, floating & flying everywhere, plus adorable plovers, whimbrels, soaring frigatebirds, lava herons, and yellow warblers. Then there's the endless view over the pacific and of rising cerros off the edges of the beach.

Lots of restaurants and hotels line the beach, but they are set back, and especially at the western end, there is plenty of sandy space to immerse in quiet, natural beauty.

I didn’t like swimming here as it’s a bit rough
The lagoon next to the pier where boat comes is fab - but the beach is long and beautiful-
You can walk it all the way to the park and see giant tortoises- I saw them everywhere and every time I went

After whatever activity we plan for the day, we plan to have a nice swim here following. The clear water slapping on the white sandy beach is totally restful. Any sweat worked up is set free. The iguanas come and go along the edges of the volcanic rocks. At the East end in the sea grasses the area is roped off for the breeding season. We have many super videos of mano y mano arguments and the courtship (however brief) of these wonderful aquatic beauties. Nearer the Iguana Crossing end of the beach hundreds do hang out on the rocks and across the street on the sea walls. As you swim you get scooped by from the pelicans looking for their next meal while the frigate birds hope for a steal. Outstanding place.

We walked from the port to Tero real by the coast and saw more blu footed bobbies than in Tuneles. It is a difficult walk thought the rocks but a great adventure.

Although I didn't get in the water, I strolled down the beach one evening to take pictures. Having come from Santa Cruz, which I found crowded and noisy, I loved the peace and quiet of this beach. It was near sunset, so what a perfect time for pictures! The beach was clean and mostly deserted. Grab your camera and enjoy!

The marvelous sand beach, broken up occasionally by a rocky outcrop runs in front of the town and a couple of kilometers further to the south. In the water off the beach. almost always great body surfing and an occasional board surfer. Great for walking or lying down.

The only beach in the Galapagos with bars right on the beach! Beautiful, uncrowded beach with fine sand that is home to hundreds of marine iguanas. Great surf, comfortable water temperature in February. Close to all the restaurants and lodging in Puerto Villamil. Our favorite beach during our two week visit to the Galapagos.
