Campomarino is a wonderful beach town in upper Salento, popular with vacationing Northern Italians, local families with second homes, and in-land residents from surrounding towns enjoying its beautiful beaches, restaurants, and nightclubs.

The beach is very long and characterized by calm turquoise waters and warm yellow sand. Some spots have small rock formations in the water as you enter, others are completely rock-free. Unlike in many popular beaches in the area, you can find large stretches of free beach to park your umbrellas and chairs. But in August, go to a beach club (reserve in advance), otherwise, you will be packed like a sardine (this applies to Sundays as well).

Like most beach towns, Campomarino is dead during the day (everyone is at the beach) and comes alive in the late afternoon/evening. August is a spectacle and if you like calm and tranquility visit in mid-season (May, June, September, even early October).

Campomarino is the nearest beach to Maruggio (5min). It has a beautiful and warm sea but a bit dirty in comparison with the others beach. In the seashore you can find a sublime typical location.

Wild long stretch of beach, calmer in the morning and bigger waves in the afternoon. Easy and free parking

September in Campomarino di Maruggio is one of the most beautiful periods to enjoy the beaches and the tranquillity of this amazing place... we use to stay here to relieve the summer season's stress, dining every night in all the little restaurant around, going to the beach every single day... the weather, useless to say, is wonderful until the middle of October, no too hot like July or June, but lots more pleasant, there is no "scirocco", the famous really damp Italian wind! If you have a car you can take the opportunity to visit all the little towns nearby or the countryside with all the "Masserie" where you could enjoy live the harvest of grape, that one that bring fresh wine for the next year, unless you want to wait until 11th November, to taste the freshly made wine, the "novello", made with same vintage's harvested grapes! Enjoy it!

Everything about this place is fantastic from the fresher than fresh seafood to the perfect beach and the friendly atmosphere. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. It seems that the host, Annibale, will do anything to make your stay the best it can possibly be. This is a place you just have to try.

We went in restaurant first week of July and we were immediately captured by amazing pano you can observe in terrazza: right the sea and left Campomarino, an amazing place you can enjoy after dinner.

We take aperture of various sea specialities and all of them were very tasty.
Then I take spaghetti and my wife roasted fish so we had tasted half of each and again were everything very good.
Dessert good as other place as well as the wine, the uniquely not-so-good thing we've taken.

So I've no doubt to suggest you to try it once in your holiday even if you don't like fish very much: I'm sure you will find other dishes in your taste.

Very well!!!

Very nice beach, not too crowded. Clean water, white sand. Some rocks close to the beach might be uncomfortable.
