One of the many beautiful bays in South Africa. Quiet and peaceful and in walking distance to the private summer house we stayed in. Betty’s bay boasts a penguin colony which we visited early morning. You pay a small fee but get to spend as long as you want watching the penguins enjoying their natural habitat.
We also did a small hike, which was most enjoyable.

This is only on of a few places in South Africa where you can see wild penguins. We arrived just as the Stoney Point Nature Reserve area was closing but it didn't matter as you can still see plenty of penguins without going into the reserve. We didn't stay too long as we were stopping off on our way from Cape Town to Hermanus but it is well worth a visit if you are travelling that way. The coastal road between is also well worth a mention for it's views.

A very nice place to see the Cape penguins. They outnumber Boulder Beach. L disadvantage: no sandy beach ... but the advantages: many penguins on the hillside nesting , many of them on the rocks , and we see them more closely . There are also fewer people. The landscapes are beautiful.
Some dassy too (species of marmot ..).
We are delighted to have been there, even after Boulder beach.
Finally the entrance is 30 rds for 180 rds to Boulder beach!!

This was so worth going out of our way for. The drive there is good with great roads and there are plenty of penguins to see from a reasonable distance. Saw our first dassie. There is a defend walkway around the rocks for a fee and a cafe with good parking.

If you want to see penquins without the crowds, go to Betty's Bay. There are more penquins here than Boulder Beach in Simonstown. The drive from Gordon's Bay to Betty's Bay is also beautiful. Definitely worthwhile the trip.

Definitely worth a visit to this long stretch of beautiful white sand with dunes in the process of rehabilitation.

Parking is a bit of a problem in high season but generally this is a great beach to swim, fish, kite surf or just sunbathe.

One of the most beautiful, clean beaches in the area. We frequently take long walks and swim at this beach.

We where very close to the penguins the day we visited them. Easy to park the car and just a short walk to the sea.
If you are in the area so visit them.

This adventure off the main tourist path is well worth the trip. This adventure was about an1 and a half hour drive from the harbor in Cape Town. The journey to the Bay was a beautiful, scenic drive. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a beautiful Penguin colony as well as migrating birds in a low tourist environment. I highly recommend this adventure.

We visited a friend who has a house close to Betty’s Bay beach, after lunch we went for a walk to the beach. What a beautiful scenic beach, we walked the length of the beach and it was breathtaking, and surprisingly the water was not cold, wished I had my swimming trunks. Great destination
